What does it mean if you have black stools, lately I bin getting cold sweats all day and every night it keeps me up till around 4am and it's the most uncomfortable feeling in my stomach ... Help?

Did you take any bismuth/Pepto Bismol? That will turn your stool black.

Ha. Quite possibly. It'll turn your tongue black as well. Never hurts to ask a doc, but it's a known side effect.

If you are not taking anything that will turn your stools black then you need to see a doctor asap. I dont want to be alarmist because there could be a few reasons why this is happening but it is also a sign of bleeding higher in the colon. Just take space with your self to think what you have consumed first. I know you will be panicked by it especially as you are feeling very unwell also. Dont let it continue though! Hoping you find the answer soon.

Hi if you get black tarry sticky stools it's not breakfast time or dinner or tea even! it's hospital time &pretty pronto/quickly as internal bleeding if left in the bottom of pan for a while does water go red?

No iron nothing just started to take ditamins it hasn't happened since then but at the time I was taking liquid gravols and a bottle of Pepto bismo each day
