So for several years I've been suffering with, up until recently has diagnosed as IBS. I've had a food intolerance test and it's been bought up that I have severe allergy to wheat, oats etc. Since then, I've seen my GP and had a blood test for Coeliac disease which has since come back negative. What's people's opinions on going cold turkey from these?

You could try the fodmap style of elimination, one thing at a time or go the whole hog but use gf products instead and reintroduce the things you have had to cut out to see if any one thing in particular causes a flare up of your initial responses. But most people it seems, just cut it out even with a negative result like yourself. It appears many more people are being diagnosed with a gluten sensitivity but not full blown coeliac like myself.

Were you eating loads of gluten containing things before your coeliac screen? Its needs to be about six weeks of foods before the test.

Tests are a great indicator, but not 100% effective. What is your intuition telling you? What foods do you know you have trouble digesting? If you have a "severe allergy" you would certainly know about it.

Another thing to consider. Is it really gluten the problem, or fructans? This article of mine may shed some light on this for you: sickofibs.com/ibs-triggers/...

If you have been suffering from food intolerance for a while, do consider that you may have dysbiosis (Candida, SIBO). For typical symptoms of each and testing read: sickofibs.com/ibs-symptoms/...

Well worth trying. I have been alot better since going gluten free.

Takes a while to get used to & is easy to make mistakes when u look at ingredients on packets u will be surprised how many contain gluten!!

Good luck & persevere
