Any tips or things people have found effective for a flare up?

Anyone successfully identified your triggers? Any tips for that?

Thank you!

Hi there, I've identified some triggers and working through to see what else affects me. I can't eat raw onions, raw carrots, broccoli (although I can tolerate some say I have it for two nights running then don't eat it again for a few weeks), cauliflower and sweetcorn. I followed a low fibre diet before my Colonoscopy last year and felt fantastic but the diet was so boring but if that's what it takes then so be it.

I also think that oats are making my symptoms worse as I have been making flapjacks with honey from a sugar free cookbook and have been eating them on a daily basis and my symptoms are definitely worse. I make them as they are ideal for mid-morning in work as I don't have any breakfast before I leave for work as I cycle a fair few times and cannot eat before I cycle. I am leaving work this coming week so will be eating breakfast and I will see how that goes.

I have also read on here a lot of times that people cannot tolerate the Lactose in milk so dairy might be another one to look at as well as some cannot tolerate Fructose in fruit either.

Best of luck.

Is honey a problem as well then? I didn't realise it was.

Thanks

Triggers may be food triggers, but also other things like people, events, or even sensations: sickofibs.com/ibs-triggers/...

Can anti inflammatories trigger a flare or a biologic treatment??

Anything potentially can be a trigger. As we are all different, you need to keep a close eye on how your body reacts before, during and after anti-inflammatories and decide whether you think you are reacting. I personally found that I could not digest any meds. That's why I found essential oils very helpful as some can be massaged into the body in a carrier oil (coconut oil, for example).
