Proper odd pain

I have IBS. Had it about three years.

Where my appendix is roughly I get sharp pains and bloating with loud gurgling. Normal?

Worse at the moment than it's ever been. Get a check up?

I get something similar, across from (right side) roughly where my belly button is, I regularly get a kind of strange mix of pain/bloat/twisted, stitch like/grumble, discomfort.

Ok. So the fact it's worse at the moment is probably linked to the IBS anyway? I shall wait a few days and see if it calms again. Thanks.

It's not always practical but I personally find a hot water bottle helps :)

Salutations Jamesdavid! Am I glad to have caught your post. According to my gastroenterologist, it's IBS. IBS is a Loki-Like trickster and it enjoys popping up here and there to cause pain and discomfort. We must learn to relax, eat fermented foods (kefir, sauerkraut..), love ourselves. Also, I've been tested multiple times for gluten, I've even had a culture and nada. No Celiac Disease or gluten intolerance, but like one with autoimmune diseases, l try to stay away from wheat, rye and barley. Dairy is not a problem. That area by the navel that pinches and aches is the small intestine. One way to observe it is with a tiny camera one swallows. I haven't done this yet. I'm one who believes that before we medicate ourselves for this or that we should stop off at the doctors to rule out certain illnesses that may or not be time sensitive. If you're 50 and up go get your baseline colonoscopy. If you are worried, go to gastroenterologist. Doctors' hands are best to hold when in the dark about ones health. And then afterall that, there comes the time when acceptance of the ailment is necessary as we hold something warm against our belly knowing that the discomfort will pass. And while we wait, we have people to chat with on this forum who know what we are going through. Start a journal to note food, people and situations that bring on the pain. Avoid the triggers. Good luck 🍀 blessings and stay in touch.

Thank you for the warm message. I have to admit it is taking some getting used to having a pain in various and seemingly random areas but this recent one really has/had me a bit concerned. It's further to the right than that though. More or less deep inside about an inch or so from my hip bone. I did consider appendix issue as two nights ago I thought I might explode and it was very bloated although has gone down now but still pretty painful. Thanks again for lovely message.

Hi again and thank you for your kind words, jamesdavid, however I want to squeeze in a little more. If you are running a temperature with this painful occasion and still have an appendix, go to doctor or at least call. My brother went on a golfing holiday suffering a case of appendicitis. He was determined to enjoy himself. The week closed with him in an ambulance. He was rolled into surgery, prepped, cut, and the appendix popped. He was very fortunate bc the bacteria did not enter the blood system. Otherwise, the outcome would have been different.

Also....

Sometimes the gallbladder can refer pain to another bodily location. This is one of those moments when you might need to visit a doctor. Your decision, big responsibility bc it may or not be IBS. You must be stressed, but try to breathe without lifting your shoulders, use your abdomenal muscles. Stress exacerbates all things. May you get the help you need so you can carry on with a smile. Blessings

Thank you, I think I will get a check out just to be sure. I have been waking up hot the last two nights and in tee shirt in the day and it's pretty cold here. I just put it down to pain sweats but didn't feel it was bad enough to sweat over. Off to the docs tomorrow. Best to be sure..... :)
