Has anyone got any tips or recommendations for anything I can take to prevent extremely smelly wind? It can be extremely embarrassing. Any herbal or over the counter remedies that people can recommend would be really appreciated.

I would try drinking peppermint tea
You could also try peppermint capsules, but if you try keep a diary of what foods make it worse you could try avoid those. There is also a healthy eating forum on hear. You could ask on there.
Charcoal tablets or Simethicone capsules.
I have had this problem for years and a year ago started taking J L Braggs Activated Charcoal Tablets, I found this advice on NHS Direct Website so thought it would be worth a try. You can take up to 12 tablets per day, 4 tabs 3 times per day until the charcoal gets into the system. I have now limited it to 2/3 late evening and 2 at lunch time and they seem to work for me. It is trial and error to get the balance right as you can take them before or after meals so whatever works for you. It is only the odd occasion I get the really smelly embarrassing wind now so they have made a difference. You have to be careful not to take the Charcoal at the same time as medication, it is recommended that you leave at least an hour or two, preferably longer between that and medication. It works by drawing toxins and gases out of the system making them into a solid form. I have also stopped having onion and garlic too, as these are not good for IBS especially if wind is a problem. Let me know how you get on x
That's great. Funnily enough I have just ordered some of the Briggs. Just out of interest when you have been suffering does it occur after every meal. For me it is last thing of the day? Thanks for your reply.
