CT scans can show diverticulitis so that could be how they decided it.
I totally understand why you're scared, I would be too. But lesions on the liver aren't always cancer - someone I know had the same thing, they turned out to be similar to birthmarks, totally benign. I'm sure that's not the only possible explanation but I'm no expert.
I had an MRI scan on my liver/gallbladder etc the other week, after having one on my head earlier this year. If you're claustrophobic, just keep your eyes shut! I know that sounds flippant, sorry, it isn't meant to be. I am a bit claustrophobic but they are very used to that & you're given a panic button to push. I surprised myself by being very calm - so calm that I almost fell asleep in the liver scan!
And I really can understand why. I just spent the couple of weeks before each one telling myself I just had to do it & I surprised myself. For the liver one, it helped that they put the radio on through the headphones as it was a distraction.
Diverticulitis most probably diagnosed by the CT scan . And the lesions ( also called cysts ) on the liver ate apparently very commmon . I have loads it seems and my gastroenterologist said it's quiet common and not to be concerned . With diverticulitis u might need mor scans and more follow up . So pls make sure u focus on that . The MRI is not the greatest thing but it's totally doable . For me it was easier than the CT colonography and much less invasive . U just have to drink all the solution they give u to be as clear as possible and just lie still.. I had to lie face down and just kept looking out and focused on my breathing as they ask u to breathe in and hold it etc.. it was relaxing actually and the panic button is there if u need it . Hopefully u won't .
good luck and keep us posted . We will be thinking of you ..
I have just had an MRI scan on my liver because of lesions. I had to lie on my back. I kept my eyes closed and the scanner want add narrow asi expected soi didn't feel claustrophobic. They can get you out quickly if need be. I didn't have to drink anything either. I'm still waiting for the result so very worried but heartened by some of the posts here. I also have diverticulitis.
