Absolutely devastated. Kept being told I had Ibs. Had ultra sound, bloods, barium swallow all normal. Went back to gastro and said I was worried. He said he would give me ct scan just to put my mind at rest. Rang me yesterday very concerned cysts in pancreas. Got to have urgent MRI doesn’t ‘t know if they are cancerous. Terrified.

Christ, just as well you kept on at them! Try not to worry too much, they aren't necessary going to be cancerous. How long have you been having symptoms, I know you haven't been on this site long. How long were you having these symptoms before joining HealthUnlocked?

I have had Ibs on off and for years.

That's the trouble with IBS, once you have a diagnosis of it, you are stuck with it for life. I guess YOU felt this was different this time. Just as well you pushed for more investigations. Please keep us all informed of your progress. Maybe a lesson to the rest of us too! I must admit I put everything down to my IBS!

Hi jasper please don’t be worried I know it’s hard not to you were right to keep on at the doctors tho . Sometimes ct scans pick up cysts on liver and kidneys too usually harmless it’s always better to get it checked anyway best wishes to you x

No you don’t. You follow it through. Let us know the outcome. In my thoughts Bx

I do because I am pretty certain it is pancreatic cancer and the odds are against you. So worried. Apparently it gets mistaken for Ibs a lot because it affects your bowels etc. In terrible pain. So frightened

Jasper at least you may get to know what’s causing your pain and they can do something about it instead of fobbing you off with saying it’s ibs hopefully you’ll be just dandy x

Cysts are very common and usually nothing to worry about xxx

in reply to Viklou

Trouble is he doesn’t know if it is benign or not and I feel so ill. Pain, weight loss, no appetite.

Good luck xxx

I think there’s a blood test called CA 119 which is a tumour marker for the pancreas area. Ask about this test. I’m sure cysts are common

Sorry to hear that Jasper. Good on you for pushing. You have done the right thing. You will have statistics on your side regarding cysts. Let us know how you get on. I know it's hard but if you can keep yourself busy in the mean time, this might help a little. Good luck.

Hope you feel better soon Jasper21. Good luck I think your weight loss and not eating is down to a lot of worry. xx

I accidentally discovered I had a cyst on my liver when having a scan for something else. It’s a bit of a shock but it happens and a cyst doesn’t automatically mean cancer. Best to remain positive until told otherwise, which I know is easier said than done, but negative thoughts not helpful. Hope it works out well for you X

Jasper, that must be so scary. And I know it is really hard to put out of your mind for now until you get the results but please try to. Most things aren't as bad as they seem. My first episode of IBS was terrible, and my physician said it could be colon cancer. Had all the tests and nothing has shown up. Still get these periodic bouts now for over 10 years and it is put down to IBS.
