I have read that some NHS hospitals treat IBS with hypnotherapy although that is not the case in my local hospital. There are private therapists who offer this treatment including one who did it at a hospital elsewhere. Does anyone have experience of hypnotherapy as a treatment please?

I think the reply below sums up IBS. What doesn't work for one, works for another. I did a course before a big event I didn't think I could cope with. I had a fabulous day and no problems. It did get rid is some deomons so look on the national hypnotherapy web site. Go for it.

I think Whoopdedoo sums it up well. I had a course of hypnotherapy and, although, it did not cure IBS I certainly found it helpful and sorted out some stress. It is worth a try.
It didn't work at all for me sadly.
It didn't work for me either,I had it at Manchester University Hostpital.
