After years of increased sensitivity and upset stomach, gas and cramps, I finally got a diagnosis about 5 years ago of IBS and have been through various medications, finally settling on mebeverine although I don't take it constantly (maybe I should). I haven't pinpointed any particular triggers although initially it was vegetables, and even now although anything can set it off, it tends to be the healthy stuff that makes me worse.
The one thing that I really struggle with though is the constant stomach rumbling and growling - most days at work my colleagues can hear it, and it wakes me up during the night. It doesn't matter if I have eaten or not eaten.
Any thoughts hints or tips would be very welcome.

I know exactly how you feel with the stomach rumbling and growling as it is after meals every single day. It's not uncomfortable but can be a bit embarrassing. Like you say when colleagues hear it and look at you funny its not great.
Mebeverine have been the tablets that have best helped me so far. Although I am still far from perfect my D has felt better since taking it, no where near as loose!!
I started really cutting down on wheat yesterday and actually woke up this morning without the normal stomach cramps and rush to the toilet so fingers crossed this is going to help. When my shopping arrives this evening I will be ready to go completely wheat free as all my new 'Free From' foods arrive.
From what I have read on here so many people recommend peppermint tea in the evenings as a relaxant. Might be worth trying that?
Hi there I have IBS and have just recently tried Silicol Gel (Amazon) It has proved (for me) to be very effective and had stopped the noise, grumblings etc. Try a small bottle. You have nothing to lose.
I agree Silicol Gel has stopped the evening rumbling and churning for me. It is a case of finding something that works for you, as we are all different - and things that work for one person may not work for another.
