Morning Rush

Does anyone else experience this?

Every morning I wake up with really bad cramps and go to the loo twice or three times before leaving the house and it is almost always diarrhoea?

It's stopping me going for weekends away and staying with friends because it is so embarrassing!

Can anyone help me on this?!?!

Unfortunately thats ibs! But what is causing this is another question, i recommend you get the camera and check for colitis. And get a food allergie test, if all fails because its a upset tummy it can be parasites. Try find my post from last night.

Hi Ali3232,

Have you had all the necessary tests to prove that you have IBS? If you haven't you should get those done before you do anything else.

Assuming that you've already done this however, you could try taking Phenergan (promethazine hydrochloride). It was recommended on this site by Shon48 who originally took it for quite a different reason than an IBS remedy and discovered it had the hidden benefit of staving off the diarrhoea and she was so ecstatic about it that I had to give it a try and I'm so glad I did. It's sold OTC at most good pharmacies and only costs about £7 for 56 tablets, you take 1 tablet per night.

It's actually a first-generation anti-histamine and is also sold for travel sickness and as a sedative. If the pharmacist starts to ask 20 questions, just say you want it for travel sickness and you've taken it before.

It works brilliantly for me (now well into my second month of taking it) and my GP was so impressed by the results that he's put it on repeat prescription for me. It's quite possible that, as it's a sedative, it reduces anxiety levels and this is what makes it effective; my GP also suggested that it may act directly on the nerves in the bowel. Who knows?? I just don't care as long as it does the job!

I do have one known food intolerance to 'normal' cows' milk which I still avoid as much as poss. I've just started replacing it with A2 milk which contains the A2 protein rather than A1 and will report back on that when I've given it a good try out.

Hope this info might help.

Have you tried Imodium? I buy 'Instants' and take a half at bed time.

This was me a while back more like 7-8 times, you need to look at what your eating see what maybe triggering you. Good luck.

Hi Ali3232 ..... know the feeling well although I have to wait until I have been about 4/5 times. Please get checked out for Colitis. As soon as I get the cramps I have about 5 seconds to get to the bathroom and it is always diarrhoea and sometimes with blood. Have been through loads of medication but nothing so far has worked so have to go for Colonoscopy in the New Year. I hope all goes well with you Ali3232 and look forward to your progress for the better.
