Hi Becca,
Sounds as if, like so many other people on here, you're intolerant of wheat at the very least and probably barley and rye too as these all contain gluten. It's quite possible to have this intolerance even if you don't have Coeliac Disease. Try giving them a complete miss for a few weeks and see how it goes.
I've felt much better since eliminating the above from my diet, rice also gives me more than a few problems and stone fruit is a real no-no - typical as it's cherry season!
I did FODMAPs about 3 years ago and it was that which really helped me sort out my trigger foods.

Hi Becca, Yes those things can most definitely trigger IBS episodes. Ive heard that the Celiac tests arenet always the most accurate. The best thing to do is to cut out Gluten/Wheat from your diet for a few weeks and see if you feel any better. Thats what i tried, unfortunately it wasnt the problem but i at least could rule it out. As a guy i have no idea about birth controk however i wouldnt have thought antihistamines would be a problem.
i got test for those and came back negative. However you can have an intolerance to gluten and not have celiac disease. two members of my family are celiac so i went gluten free three months ago and feel great more energy and no cramps and less bloating. i am going to get food mapped to see if i have an intolerance to other foods.
i had previously tried calcium carbonate, peppermint tea, peppermint tablets had a polis taken out from my colon but find that diet change and exercise is the best way to controlling and diminishing IBS
Hi. Yes, they are known triggers for IBS. I cut wheat and gluten out about 9 months ago and it has made a difference. My brother is coeliac and I had the blood test for it and mine came but negative but a nutritionalist said the first thing for me to try was cutting those out. It can make day to day food choices harder but it would definitely be worth trying if you know they are triggers. Good luck.
You could also try cutting out dairy as could be intolerant to lactose which is found in the content of many many medications, ask your pharmacist for lactose-free versions of your medications.
