Hello all, I’m new to this community! I have been living with IBS for a couple of years now. I was wondering if anyone on here Has eaten out in Nandos UK and how did you find it? I absolutely love eating there however I just suffer so much everytime I eat it! I want to know what you all think the triggers may be in the nandos food?

Heyaaa, I'm not too sure but do you tend to have your food spicy when you go? Because sometimes I find that spicy food aggravates my gut and causes me to have flare ups.

If you aren't sure, I know this is going to sound so backwards but, it may be worth going to Nando's again and make a diary of everything you eat and drink and see what happens. Then you may want to research all the types of foods you think it could be (and what food group it comes from) and then have a wee little Google to see if it's known to be problematic and digestible.

If it makes you feel any better, I've recently started drinking hot milk before bed to help me sleep and yesterday night was the 3rd time of me having it and I had dull stomach pain afterwards but I'm not lactose intolerant and I hadn't eaten anything prior to drinking the milk, soooo I'm going to have it again tonight and see. It's such a pain I know but at least then we'll both be able to pin point what the trigger is and get some piece of mind.

Hope this was kind of useful. And I hope you find the triggers soon so you just enjoy your Nando's without the discomfort :)

if I go to Nando’s I have to leave for home within the hour. I personally think it’s the sauce that sets me off. I only have L&H but I have loads of it and my guts pay the price!

Hi, if you eat chicken and chips and just a little lemon herb sauce, you'll be fine. With all spicy sauces it is 90% chance you will have a problem. Also, if you have salads or corn (which is also on the menu) you can have flare ups. You didn't mention what type of Nando's food do you eat.

Onions and garlic can be triggers for some - which are usually in their sauces.

So might be worth seeing if you order without any peri peri sauce how you go?

Hello. I hope you are ok?

I personally can’t have any spices, sauces or seasonings such as salt etc. I was pretty miserable when I Had to eliminate flavourings too, but the bland diet did really help! I can have low fat mayo, as any fats also cause me a lot of pain. I miss eating out in loads of places so I do understand but maybe try plain for a few visits and see how you feel? Atleast you can still enjoy the social side of eating out with friends/family/partner :)
