Backache
I have had lower back pain for nearly 5 years now ,had all tests including m r i ,shows bulging discs and bone errosion .During the long drawn out waiting for appointments ect for all investigations.Docs put me on IBS diet for a year, gave me tons of different tablets ,decided it wasnt IBS,now say there is nothing they can do ,offerd me meditation at pain management and go away and get on with it .I have been through menopause.
Good luck ,dont let the GP make you feel a nuisance or hypocondriac ,just keep going till you get an answer ,even if its not one you want to hear .I have tried chiro and acupunture ,physio.tense machine .I now do yoga ,it does seem to help sometimes ,also I wear an elasticated strength belt ,but GP says i shouldnt as it will weaken muscles ,but boy when you are in pain you do anything. It has taken over my life ,I feel very abandoned and theres no where to go ,the relationship with my G P is zero ,he does not know what to do so shoved me off to pain management .I do hope you get more help than I have experienced ,back pain can be so dibilitating .
MRI scan will confirm any degenerative changes in your spine. They are more reluctant to do back ops now, as they realise they can make things worse (I've had two). I think you have to suffer with peripheral neuropathy (numbness in feet/legs) before they agree to spend money on you. The NHS is all about money now, not patient care. I have 4 children who are Nurses that work in 2 different hospitals. Dependent on your age, you may or may not be fobbed off. The older you are, the less likely you are to have a satisfactory result from the NHS. Private patients on the other hand...........
