how easy is it to get a Radar key?
What is an NKS radar key?
I would imagine you would have to be registered as disabled to get one.
hairyfairy I have seen a few toilets like that in Canterbury car parks. The toilet is permanently locked and can only be opened with a radar key. Annoyingly they don't provide 'normal' toilets nearby.
This has brought up an important subject. This link says they only sell to people that need them due to a disability or health condition. radar-shop.org.uk/Detail.as... WE have a health condition!
Hi there
I have a RADAR key and have had for quite a few years now and I must say it has been a blessing with having IBSd! Although once after I'd had to use a disabled toilet urgently I came out to be faced by a lady wheelchair user who promptly gave me quite a lot of verbal abuse for using it as 'you shouldn't be using this toilet, you're not disabled'!!! Being the calm person that I am, I politely explained that there are, unfortunately, many types of disability and just because the disability can't be seen does not mean that others do not suffer.
Hello
I got my RADAR key from the Radar website. You don't need to be registered as disabled. There are other sites that sell them but I understand that they are copies. If you buy them from Radar (who are a registered charity) they do not get the benefit of the profit to support their good work. The IBS network do the "Can't Wait" cards
Thanks for the replies Everyone. Gonna apply for a radar key as where I go for practicing photography has disabled toilets which are radar key locked. And it would at least help to reduce some of the worries of going out n about
Glad I found this group as its been a wealth of info and support
Hi!
There was talk of the RADAR key being relaunched this year as an electronic key but I think that has now all passed into mythology. I don't think they will be able to do it. There is a post about it here, livingwithdisability.info/r... you can also buy keys via the link on the page. The price includes P+P but it might still be cheaper on the official site I don't know.
u need to contact ur local council, but there will be a charge £10 I think
I got sent a 'can't wait card' after joining the IBS Network. It was in with the welcome letter.
RADAR stands for Royal Association for Disability Rights. This association is now known as N.K.S which stands for National Key Scheme.
My name is Paul and I am a Health Professional. I have been in the profession for almost 20 years and work will lots of "client groups" who suffer with different illnesses.
Be careful, there are Companies in the UK who sell the N.K.S, however some of these keys are not genuine.
Here at completecareandmobility.co.uk we are authorised retailers for the N.K.S and all our keys are from N.K.S manufacturers.
Our Genuine RADAR N.K.S Keys are £2.99 + P&P.
Visit the contact us page on our website, there you will find the telephone number for customer services who will be happy to take your order.
Regards,
Paul
