I am still having problems in finding Questran or Colestyramine in this country. Boots cannot get it and I have not been able to find another source. Is anyone else taking it and, if so, where they do they get it from? Professor Read recommended it to me and I find it a great help.

Questran/colestyramine availability?
I'm currently on a trial for questan from the hospital. For me it caused constipation bloating and some pain. Have you spoken to your doctor about getting it on prescription or from the hospital. The other issue with it is you can't take other medication's 2 hours before and for 4 hours afterwards. Probably not much help in your search.
Thanks Puma. I have had prescriptions for it for years - it is only recently that there have been supply problems. It does not cause me any problems and stops any diarrhoea. I am afraid I don't pay much attention to the advice about taking other medicines - I don't take much anyway. I have also contacted Teva who make colestyramine and they say there should be no supply problem. Superdrug are trying to order it for me. I can get it in France without difficulty!
I have been told today that the availability is now down to weather the PCT will fund questran I can only get mine from the hospital pharmacy. Sorry I can't be much more help.
They have funded it in the past without a problem. I have written to Boots to ask why they won't try to get it. I would be happy to pay for it anyway - we pay for it in France. Thanks for finding out for me.
I've also had problems getting it from boots now I get it from smaller chemist but it is the light version which is not as good but better than nothing !!
What do you mix yours with ,I've been taking it for about 3yrs now and still can't get used to the texture or taste ! Xxx
I mix it with water and actually I don't find it too unpleasant.
My husband goes to France quite often so he does get it for me there but I am quite keen to find out what is holding Boots back - I await their response to my email.
Can't you get a friend in France to send it to you?
It might only be available on prescription
It is only available on prescription and I have a prescription!
Well perhaps the company have stopped making it which happened with the drug I was taking for osteopaenia
It is still being made byTeva UK and Boots have sent me a very helpful response saying they will order it direct from Teva for me. I am impressed with their customer service.
