Hi all, I try to follow a low FODMAP diet and usually have lacto free milk, a nurionist reccomended almond milk a better option, but I am not sure if this contains too many FODMAPS, any one using this milk whilst doing the diet?

Almond milk
I have been using almond milk for about 2/3 years and have no problem.
Try introducing it slowly, its good on cereals just see how you go.
I use the oat drink from M & S and it suits me very well.
Well into the Fodmap diet--I'm actually, just starting the re-introduction of high Fodmaps. Almond milk isn't a problem with this diet.
Almond milk has virtually no taste, IMHO, and serves well for all the purposes I need: making sauces and custard, on cereals, cooking, etc. Drink my tea/coffee black, so don't know whether it alters the flavour of your cuppa.
It keeps well in the fridge. One litre lasts me about a week, dependant upon whether I also feed it to my husband, who doesn't dislike it at all.
Good luck with the diet--hard work thinking out everything you shop and cook for and eat, isn't it?
Almond milk is fine for the FODMAP diet. I have a problem with it because of what the almond industry is doing to the drought situation in California though. It's hideous. Suddenly it is a fashionable ingredient and people don't realise the impact of cultivating so many almonds. If this sounds like a rant - I apologise!
I use almond , coconut or oat milk. All are OK on Fodmaps
Hi bigbunbun3,
Lactofree milk is perfectly fine for the low FODMAP diet, as the FODMAP lactose has been removed. Lactofree milk still contains the protein and calcium of normal milk, making it a good choice. Most alternative milks are fortified with calcium (but check the label and avoid organic options as these don't contain calcium), but are lower in protein. Since almonds are high FODMAP foods, almond milk does contain some FODMAPs, but if you stick within the recommended limit of 600ml per day you should be fine.
I'd recommend seeing a FODMAP-specialist dietitian for advice:

or
(search for 'FODMAP').
Best wishes
Hi there. I think almond milk is ok if following a low FODMAP diet. Here is link that is quite interesting to read.
HI I have almond because i dont like taste of others Ive tried, but Im going
to try m@s oat milk. I find i can tolerate ordinary semI-skimmed milk
in tea as I only have a couple if cups a day, My husband yses the almond
milk on cereals too and loves it, By the way just been to Tesco and its on
offer at the moment, I use the long life version. (Every little helps).
Hi thank you for all of your reply's concerning Almond milk and the other additional information. I have been cutting back on FODMAPS for quite a while, but tend to treat myself to a few foods that I know I should avoid, and end up regreting it!!
I am going on holiday shortly ( difficult to be good with foods ), but I have decided to do the elimination diet properly when I return. I have been checking out FODMAP specialist dietitions as I think some guidience will be helpful.
Thanks again.
What is the FODMAP diet?
Hi Suews, the FODMAP diet has helped many people with IBS symptoms.
The Monash University in Australia is a good starting point for information, along with the website, thelowfodmapdiet.com
