Pain at Night

Thought I had found my answer to IBS by adopting a low fibre diet. 4/5 days much improved but now the night time ache/pain in the lefthand side has returned and wakes me up every night. Does anybody else suffer mainly from nightly pain?

Hi

Type in "night time pain" on this site, and you will see that it's a fairly common problem for IBS. Mine is often worse in the night - it's not supposed to be an IBS symptom, which worries people but I am assured it's "normal". (Ha)

It's very isolating and it drains you for the next day - it's a case of waiting it out for me, and then when the flare up settles down, so does the night pain.

Night time is bad for me. If I go off to sleep when I go to bed and then wake up after about 1 hour then all the discomfort starts, not pain but my stomach and bowels just go into overdrive and usually end up on the toilet!!!

I have had night time discomfort for ages, backache and stomach cramps. Tried all kinds of things, I usually end up getting up and sitting with a hot water bottle on the affected area. I do sympathise with you, it's so annoying when you are tired and just want to sleep!
