Trying to control IBS

Hi

I’ve recently been diagnosed with IBS (constipation) and Endometriosis so I have a lot of symptoms that interlink.

Currently I’m having issues with my bladder, I need to go for a wee every 1hr or so. I guess this is due to my IBS, and perhaps there’s pressure on my bladder? Is that common? I go just before I go to bed (9.30/10pm) and then when I get up at 7.30am I’m absolutely bursting. 🤦‍♀️

Also, I get usual bloating with a flair up but then the right side of my tummy seems to swell up even more, it’s very noticeable. Does anyone know what this is?.. if it’s anything to be concerned about?

I don’t want to go back to the doctors again as over the past 18months I must had gone to the doctors 20-30 odd times trying to get help and finally then a diagnosis of Endo and IBS. So I’m a little embarrassed to go again, especially if it’s nothing to worry about..

Thanks in advance

X

I wish I could go all night without being woken to do a wee. Really though, the only possible exception is, your right sided pain which could involve your gall bladder and gall stones, other than that, welcome to the club that no one wants to join.

Haha thanks! Two clubs I would like not to be in. Il mention it next time I go to the doctors. 👍

Sorry to hear about your symptoms.

I would say you should always be able to see the doctor if your symptoms have clearly changed. Don't be embarrased.

The top-tip I have received from a Doctor is that, if you have not worked out which GP is best with Gut Health at your surgery, then ask the receptionist (they really are not dragons)

Also your GP might have mentioned seeing a dietitian and looking at the fodmap diet. They works for many people with IBS and once you have had the initial consultation you can use the Monash App or Tummi Fodmap app to guide you through the diet (it's a bit complicated at first!)

Oh thanks, I will look into that. I have worked out a lot of foods that I can’t have. Cereal being the worst, cows milk, alcohol, etc. I’ve just been on holiday with friends so it’s caused a flair up as I was drinking a lot.

My doctor told me I had IBS and just gave me some sachets to take daily 🤦‍♀️ which I started on but I don’t use them unless I need them now. She wasn’t very helpful x

Yes with fodmap some common trigger foods are wheat products, onion/garlic and dairy. But it various for everyone. I gave up wheat, that helped alot but am ok with the dairy/lactose group

Hope you find something that works for you
