Has anyone tried anytriptalin for IBS? What side effects have you noticed?
After living with Ibs for 35 years i gave in and tried Amitriptyline only a low dose of 10mg , it is magic the only thing that touches the pain. It has a funny taste but the main drawback for me is it makes me really tired, however i have decided to keep on it and not try an alternative as i know it works, and i would be afraid to try an alternative. I can take it just twice a week and it still works, i recommend it.
hi ,i suffer from i b s c, tried Amitriptyline & it made me more constipated ,so not for me ,but really hope it helps you.
Hi I tried it about a year ago. On 10mg I had AM hangover symptoms which GP said was normal. After 2 weeks they then increased the dose to 20mg and I turned into a complete zombie. It sounds pathetic but the sheets on the bed felt so heavy and I just struggled to do anything. My husband was concerned and took me to the pharmacist who told me to go back to GP. They stopped it and we agreed to try another - Sertraline. This I tolerated much better but did not improve my symptoms.
Hi AfricanSheila,
I was on it for over a year, it worked really really well for me the only side effect I noticed was a dry mouth. I was forever needed to drink or use a lip balm, as my lips would get dry too. I had to come off it as my consultant didnt like me bring on it for so long. It was fabulous for ibs-d.
Good luck.
Thank you for your response. I seems more and more that these things are trial and error and different for everyone!
