Hi,

I can't answer your question as I'm not up on FODMAP diets, but I looked it up and see it contains FOS (fructooligosaccharides) which I know some say can make their symtoms worse. Apparently it feed the friendly bacteria in the gut. What I don't understand, and maybe somebody else can, is how it can select only the 'good' bacteria - surely it would feed ALL bacteria. I am thinking of antibiotics which will kill bacteria but often give people an uset stomach because it kills the good as well as the bad.

It seems the vets are more up on this than doctors and many now recommend taking probiotics after a course of antibiotics or to help with diarrhea.

I think that FOS is a FODMAP so that's why it could be a problem.

Thanks Sheila. Yes FOS is a FODMAP. When I looked on the Higher Nature web page it did not mention FOS which is why I was asking Mark which site he read that this particular probiotic contains FOS.

Sorry, I was looking at this one highernature.co.uk/Products... I didn't see the intensive one - which looks like it doesn't contain FOS

PS - I am tempted to try them but see they don't include bifidobacterium Infantis which appears to be helping some people with IBS. There are quite a few around now that contain it - you can also buy it on it own, either as a powder or liquid. Maybe worth a google before you decide.
