Transdermal Estrogen + ADT {was Zometa}
Just about to shut down & a new vblog post from Dr. Myers comes in. Very timely, considering my mention of estradiol [E2] patches as an alternative to Zometa for ADT-related osteoporosis. I was a bit cautious in the Zometa post, because I'm not aware of a study that showed that an estradiol patch could

Hi, I am new here, and would like to introduce myself. My husband was diagnosed with PC in 1993, when he was 58. He just turned 81. The initial diagnosis was done when his PSA was 12, Gleason 7. He underwent radical prostatectomy. In 2001 his PSA started to go up and reached 4.4. Bone scan did not show

Anyone been on Taxotere longer than 10 months?
Husband has been on chemo/taxotere since July, 2015. He has tolerated it quite well and it seems to have kept his condition stable without progression, but the lowest his PSA has gotten, after a high of 115, is in the 40 range. He is also taking Eligard and Zometa and prednisone. After stretching out

Starting PSA was 5,006.4
In November 2013 I was in a Northern California emergency room with severe lower back pain at age 65. Turned out I had previously undiagnosed, widespread metastatic prostate cancer. PSA was 5,006.4, with testosterone level of 908, and Alkaline Phosphatase around 424. Nuclear medicine bone scan lighted

Vitamin D & J-/U-Shaped PCa Risk
Aim of this post: - to try to trash the Nordic studies with their J-/U-shaped risk curves. - to look at the only studies that really matter - vitamin D & survival. There are two main sets of PCa vitamin D study findings. Many studies have noted a reduction in PCa risk as blood levels increase. (However

Low PSA with a Gleason 8 diagnosis

Laparoscopy followed by bowel problems, not helped by Zelletta
Hi, I'm in limbo at the moment, so was wondering if anybody has had any similar experiences. Last summer (2014), I had a laparoscopy and was told I had stage IV endo, and that my cyst the size of a grapefruit was removed. After this op I was put on 3 months of zoladex, this then caused minor problems
