Question about VATS lung biopsy
Hi again all! Well I saw the consultant on Monday and was advised that my VQ scan showed I don't have a problem with the the blood supply in/to the lungs. That was really good news. However, I have now to go into hospital for a lung biopsy. In order that we can get enough lung tissue

Newbie to the site but old hand at dealing with RA. This is my story...
Originally diagnosed with Still's, my parents were told there was every likelihood I would end up in a wheelchair by my late teens but, 39 years on, I carry many battle scars and war
wounds
but I'm still vertical - just!

No sunshine substitute needed in Northern Ireland!
For once, while people in England are complaining about the rain, we have wall to wall sunshine here in NI, even if it's still pretty cold. So today I continued with my exercise regime aiming to build up my strength and stamina. My husband dropped me off at the Lough Shore Park in Antrim where I met

Self-Testing with Coagucheck XS???
Hi I received this message from Roche Coaguchek when I asked them if their new machine was more accurate with antiphospholipid patients. "We advise all patients with Anti-phospholipid Syndrome that the meter may not be suitable for self-testing, due to the nature of the condition and method of testing

Video about endo and laparoscopy that i made for people who don't know abut endo, unplanned and rough... enjoy
A video I made while I was healing, unplanned and very informal. Made this to give the basics to people who are unaware of endometriosis in my life and once I made it I thought others may find it informative/entertaining. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOl5WwCw6TA let me know

Anyone for splints?
My hubby pointed out to her that his hands are now full of puncture holes and
wounds
and swellings from taking over from me so he'll probably need time off his care work job if this state of affairs carries on!!

Not the whole truth because I've forgotten most of it!
I had her by c/section which was a very long process (30 mins of trying to get her out using forceps) and I had a nasty allergic reaction to the dressings they used on my
wounds
. Basically from then to now I have not been well.

Elbow operation?
My consultant has recommended an operation to clean out my elbow joint because I have restricted movement and a lot of pain. He first suggested a replacement but I don't want to go down that route too soon - hoping to live longer than a new elbow would last. Has anyone had experience of an elbow debridement

Are any members with WG ANCA negative ?
i was diagnosed with WG 13 years ago and have always remained ANCA negative. My saddle nose deformity and nasal biopsy confirmed WG. I wondered how many other members are also ANCA negative. Because of this it can be difficult to monitor my condition. Thankfully Dr Jayne at Addenbrookes always listens

Post operative pain and healing
I had a de-bulk operation on Feb 3rd after 4 cycles of chemo. My ovaries, tubes, uterus, omentum and part of the cervix were removed. I was told that chemo makes healing slower but could anyone tell me how long I should be in pain when I move any part of my abdomen (lying still is fine) Good wishes to

My story so far....
My war
wounds
are sore (d@mn that pesky corticosteroid!) and I'm not too happy about having to take more Methotrexate but my lovely rheumy says that as I am - in his words - a 'youngun' - I should be able to tolerate that higher dosage without ill effect.

Honey and water - Is it really all that good?
He found that the honey water solution was far superior in treating
wounds
, though he probably did not know why.

Why are women still being treated with diathermy when it does not work?
We've all heard about excision - why is this not widely available yet? Im hearing women going a good few years between surgeries. I had surgery in june 2010, again in feb 2011 and now facing another op - which will make 3 in 18 months! I have refused as diathermy is leaving me riddled with adhesions
