Decision Time
Hi all, I was diagnosed with thrombocytopenia in 2007 and over the years , my low platelets were managed with IVIG, prednisolone and Rituximab. However, now in my mid 60's the yo-yoing platelets is becoming more often and 3 different haematologists have urged me to go on a more "long term", treatment

Recommend a good substitute for Tilade
I understand that Tilade is no longer available. Have you been in this situation? What did your doctor prescribe? Is it a good substitute?

Any Vancouverites / Canadians with ITP?
Hi there, I am about to move to Vancouver indefinitely as a PR by the end of the year. I'll have to find a doctor as soon as possible (for regular checks or should any issue happen) and was wondering whether anyone had any tips on where to look for an ITP specialist, a hematologist. I am not sure what

Platelets & me
Hi guys, I am somewhat new here and wanted to introduce myself. My name's Luke and ITP is a fairly new thing for me. I might have suffered from mild ITP early on in my life but it only started to be problematic after I've undergone treatment in 2013 (4 years of remission so far, so I am definitely hopeful

Too many decisions
Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice? I've had ITP for 3 years now, first started on preds, ivg, rixtimab, and nplate. N plate does work for me but currently trying for a baby and haematologist isn't being very helpful... Was started back on steroids 25mg once daily but count is currently 17. He

Itp treatment
Hi . I developed Itp 5.5 month ago. I know I have it after a stressful episode of my life 😐 Now , during this time I've been reading articles about Itp. They suggest to wait e years before doing splenectomy. Personally , I know a woman in my relatives who had it during pregnancy and took 2 years

Intal/Tilade - Medication for exercise induced asthma
I have been doing some research whilst trying to rest up after the weekend, and it seems there are some medications around which target exercise induced asthma. Generally my asthma is reasonably well controlled, but exercise remains an issue for me. For example this weekend, I used ventolin before I

Out of the woods with ITP (I think!)
I have been diagnosed with ITP nine years ago back in dec. 2009, I was on my way to CA and I was told my blood count went to 2,000 from my primary care so I had to see a specialist, I went in and they gave me prednisone, for two weeks, they advised me not to go but I had already got the ticket so I went

Tamiflu - WORKING!!!!! :) :)
I have been using nplate for ITP for 2 years, giving myself weekly injections. I was sick with the flu last week. This made my numbers drop even with my weekly injection of nplate to 36,000. I took Tamiflu for 5 days to kick the flu and exactly a week later my count went from 36,000 to 280,000. I

ITP To Feel or not to feel...that is the question!
Hi, I am new here. I have been lurking lately. Anytime I google a question it always leads me here. So I have been dealing with ITP for a few years without a diagnosis official until this year. The doctors are still not sure why I have it or if it is ITP. I had a bone marrow biopsy which showed a chance

Beginning Rituxin 4 weekly infusions on Friday. Very frustrated.
Diagnosed in May. Started on Dex pulses tha went up to 120k then down below 10k twice. Shifted to Prednisone which kept platelets slightly above 10k. This was through June. IVIG shot me to 230k and back down to 17k within the second week of July. I began 75 mg Promacta in July and late August it was

Curious
So I'm wondering if you have to have a bone marrow biopsy before you try nplate? My platelets are at 26 and I'm going off steroids cause the platelets weren't increasing. How are the side effects with nplate? I'm going to ask the dr about it but I'm not sure if they will let me try it cause I have

Nplate causing "giant platelets"
Had anyone else had "Giant Platelets : Present" on their labs after just starting Nplate? Anyone at all? Trying to find out why this is happening and if it is normal / safe or even expected from Nplate treatment. 2nd injection is tomorrow. Platelets went from 10 to 13 one week after first injection

Tilade or Intal inhalers and exercise
I have severe asthma, although it's usually 'controlled' during the week (as in, I'm not routinely having to use my reliever) with Spiriva Respimat, Seretide, and Montelukast, I still struggle a lot at ice hockey on Friday-Sunday. I wondered if anyone has used an inhaler like Tilade or Intal, along

Itp diagnosed 1 year ago
I was diagnosed exactly 1 year ago with a count of 5! I went on steroids then a chemo drug to which nothing helped - I had 3 ivig's which lasted for around 8/10 weeks then got put on nplate but with just a 250mg dose the platelets were still falling around 10 a week so now once every month I have a double
