Socratic Lab Results – any advice?
… because Socrates said in many different ways “the more I go, the less I know” and when I look at my lab results over the past years they make no sense to me. However “appropriate” in theory, or not, and whatever dose(s) I take, I’m only getting worse. I’ve been on T3/T4 combo since June 2021. I will

Rapid Heart Rate & Metallic Taste
I have had palpitations overnight and a strong metallic taste in my mouth since starting Iron tablets. I started B12 injections in November last year and have been on Ferrous Gluconate tablets now reduced to one every other day. Was wondering how long this may last, please advise - Thank You Shannondor

Good vitamins and supplements

I’m about to start b12 injections alternate days for two weeks then every 3 months. I appreciate this isn’t enough for neurological problems which I have. Should I ask for blood tests for folic acid before I start and then take every day .. and for how long? I’m not going down the path of SI for lots

changing from Armour to levo
Hi all I take armour thyroid and have done for over 10 yrs now. I was originally prescribed this by a private doctor but further down the rd I found a way to buy Armour myself so I self medicate. I test my levels regularly (probably every 4-6 months) and I’ve felt in a good place for years. That’s

Stiff as a Post!
I rather like that play on words! I know that stiffness is a part of PMR but I have experienced stiffenss since my fifties. I remember going to a wholistic style GP who told me to take huge doses of Vitamin D and zinc tablets which I don't remember making a lot of difference. My brother, who I haven't

I make trying to suppress EBV a leg of my supplement strategy.
I replied to a comment with this comment, then decided to share it as a post also:
As somebody who has been exposed to EBV (mono), I make trying to suppress EBV a leg of my supplement strategy. I need to write up everything I think helps with EBV, but here is a short list: -

Vitamin D and Vitamin K Absorption Advice for the Community
Hi Everyone, I was curious about how much fat exactly we need at a meal when taking the fat soluble vitamins D and K so I looked it up. I wanted to share here in case it is helpful to anyone. Research suggests that 11g of fat at a meal is what is needed for optimal absorption of these vitamins. Some

I first joined this forum about 8 months ago and was in a very dark place with my pulsatile tinnitus. I went to ENT had tests and scans and told no obvious cause learn to live with it now. I did that with some success using CBT based app Oto, I brought myself a sit stand desk for work as found it was

Hello everyone! I am diagnosed with hypothyroidism and take Levothyroxine 100mg. I don't feel well at all, but I also have other health problems: lupus, Sjogren's, Henoch's purpura, neutropenia... I have a lot of symptoms and pains that I don't know where they are coming from, but fibromyalgia and depression

AUTOIMMUNE LIVER BLOODS
I am new to this community and have found some useful information here. I was diagnosed with B12 deficiency of 158 last August, had various tests plus B12 repeated on 17 January and this time my B12 came back at 147. My GP says it’s borderline but from what I’ve read hear it’s low, he did further bloods

follow up to previous post. Help please.
Hi all, I previously posted on behalf of my Mom. TSH, B12, folate and vitamin D below was taken 21/12/23. GP prescribed 50,000 unit 1 a week for 6 weeks vitamin D caps. So we see the ones called calceous 400 unit with calcium 1 twice a day did not maintain her level. So that could be one reason why she

Trimethoprim - ET
I have unfortunately developed a urinary tract infection. I am penicillin-sensitive and have been prescribed trimethoprim as a seven day course. I have been reading up on it and see that it should not be prescribed for patients with "blood dyscrasias" because of some interaction with folate. Does

T3 and updates.
Hope everyone is having a good day and not pouring it down and misty as it is here. Managed to have a telephone consultation with my usual Dr. today that I feel was helpful. My T3 result was done with my last tests and is 4.5 which said in normal range. I only had one thyroid test prior to beginning

lowered my dexa scores!
It is with great pleasure that I can tell this story! I had my 3yr dexa scan 2 weeks ago. Dreaded results as I’ve not taken drugs as when I initially tried them I was unwell (to say the least!) I improved my diet … cut way down on sugar, lowered carb intake, upped green veg, red meat, milk, yoghurt

First IVF Cyle - Endo sufferer - What should I be doing to prepare?
Hi All! Just looking for some advice about what to do prior to a IVF cycle. Bit of background… I have stage 4 endometriosis, kissing ovaries, 5cm cyst on one ovary and a small fibroid. My partner and I have been TTC for 6 years. The years of lack of success led to a lot of weight gain as I took

Ritalin not helping
My 5 YO son has just been diagnosed with ADHD he started Ritalin 5 days ago but both my husband and I think it’s definitely made his aggression worse. Our main struggle with him has always been his impulsive behavior towards peers (at the point of almost being kicked out of his pre-school) we can’t get
