GLP-1 oral drug is the Newest class of diabetics drugs after DPP-4 inhibitor such as Vildagliptin/Sitagliptin / Teneligliptin/ Linagliptin .

Is metaphormin doze interchangable with galvus(vildagliptin) /jardiace(empaglifiozin) i mean to ask these are not stronger dozes as compared to metaformin.

In fact Galvus Vildagliptin is not yet approved by USFDA... Though many European and Asian countries have approved... DPP4 inhibitors in high dose in some cases seem to have caused a dangerous skin disease called Bullous pamphigold. SGLT2 is being mainly prescribed for obese type 2.

DPP4 inhibitor such as Sitagliptin has got USFDA approval where as Vildagliptin is yet to clear USFDA approval though all European countries, and India are widely prescribing DPP4 inhibitors ....Vildagliptin .. Disclaimer: I am not a medical practitioner.

My wife is on either of insulin Apidra/Regular/Lispro 16 Units 15 to 30 minutes before B/F, lunch & dinner, Insulin Glargin 42 Units at 10pm, Vildagliptin 50 mg BD and Metformin 500 mg BD. She’s putting on weight (70kg, ht 160cm, age 68) & her tummy is coming out. HbA1C last was 7.

I am taking medicine Galvus met ( 50 mg Vildagliptin + 500 mg Metformin) two times. presently my sugar level in fasting is 110 and PP after 2 hours taking meal 148.

Had been on different diabetic meds including metformin, vildagliptin, glimepiride, sitagliptin, and insulin for some time. Recently, in the last week, my post-prandial sugars ran into 500 range and fasting over 250s. I am also having elevated LFTs, high triglycerides, VLDL, and low HDL.
