Allergy and asthma?
I've noticed taking
ventolin
for asthma symptoms seems to give immediate relief of these allergy-type symptoms, which is very strange! I know allergic asthma is a thing, but I'm confused about why
ventolin
would stop the apparent allergy symptoms (rather than just treating the asthma)?

Gradually learning....
I have a couple of questions I'm really hoping you can help me with: 1) I currently take
Ventolin
twice a day and Clenil twice per day but if I've understood correctly things that I've read on here, I shouldn't really need the
Ventolin
if I'm controlling my asthma properly - is that right?

Variable symptoms
Sometimes I’m needing
ventolin
every couple of hours and feel tight and breathless when talking (not to the extent I can’t talk, I know that’s an emergency) yet sometimes I can go long stretches with no
ventolin
and feel fine. I can’t pinpoint any particular trigger either.

Using an Inhaler with cardio issues
They have now suggested I try a
Ventolin
inhaler but reading the leaflet gives me cause for concern and wonder if anyone else here has managed to get along with it.

Morning symptoms
Once I’ve had my inhalers first thing and few puffs of
ventolin
throughout the morning I feel better. Surprisingly on the couple of occasions I’ve been sick I feel loads better sooner as chest doesn’t as congested and cough feels easier.

Asthma nurse, long term medication
I have been on a prednisolone for a week (3 1/2 weeks ago) then the clenil 100 x 2 puffs twice a day for about 2 1/2 weeks, I generally feel like I am getting better now, still have odd days of symptoms so take the
ventolin
a few times per week.

Home Nebs 🫁 - they may help improve QoL in severe asthmatics, but are they safe?! Everything you need to know!
Tho often equated to 10 puffs of
ventolin
through a spacer, past a certain point they can make it a lot easier to breathe in as you don’t need to worry about coordination etc, which is why they are usually used in emergency care.

Bit of an update and a query
So I went to back to the GP after a week of prednisolone, peak flow diary and
ventolin
and he thinks from the steroids and
ventolin
helping me and the ups/downs of the peak flow that I may benefit from a preventer inhaler and to see an asthma nurse.

Got a referral to respiratory!
Apparently the current guidelines prioritise taking 2-3 puffs of
ventolin
every 4 hours without doubling the steroid dose. So, that's what I'll be doing until my referral.

Asthma attacks, panic attacks and what to do?
I usually manage my asthma well and am not too bad checking my peak flows when I start to feel a tight chest, increasing my Clenil to 4x 2 puffs daily and using my
Ventolin
as in my action plan. Problem is that I also have panic attacks on the back of my asthma attacks.

Frustrated and apparently over medicated
She said I should be aiming for 480 (my pb is 620 but I'm currently around 540 which goes up >600 if I take my
ventolin
). I told her that I had been told predicted values were irrelevant as it should be about my own personal best but she was having none of it.

Nebuliser Advice
Ventolin
inhalers work for the most part but where I live it’s a 80 mile trip to renew my inhaler, sometimes they are out of stock. I live outside the UK,
Ventolin
are available in the pharmacies. If I have an attack without an inhaler, again 80 miles to the nearest hospital.

My Gp has given me a peak flow meter, prednisolone for 7 days and a
ventolin
inhaler. I predominately spoke about shortness of breath in the first appointment and he said take the

Inhalers and Atrial Fibrillation
I have been given an Aero Chamber and Salbutamol
ventolin
evohaler. My GP suspected asthma although I havent officially been diagnosed with it. Apparently because of the Covid they are not doing lung function tests. I suffer with Atrial Fibrillation for which I take Flecainide.

First stay in hospital with asthma
I had used ten puffs of
ventolin
. Sat quietly for half an hour and was short of breath but not majorly struggling. I then had to go upstairs to the bathroom. Big mistake. By the time I came down I couldn’t speak and couldn’t get air in. So frightening. Hubby took me to a and e.
