Calling all asthmatics
I find that my lungs are not too bad when I'm running as long as I use Ventolin prior to going out, but go into shock as soon as I finish. I then take at least 48 hours to stop wheezing. Do anyone else's lungs react this way and will it improve with increased fitness? Thank you in advance for your answers

Told need oxygen - please help
Went for Pulmonary Rehab assessment and was told need oxygen for any activities (including just walking) - even though she said the oxygen levels rise very quickly when I relax. Am in shock because don't even use Ventolin on a regular basis and when I get out of breath I just stop and wait for it to

Ventolin Accuhaler
I had to be put on a higher dosage of both my preventer and reliever in the winter because I was becoming progressively worse with the cold air. I've been to the nurse a few times with concerns of using the Accuhaler but nothing was done and she barely helped me in anyway, I don't know how to use it

Asthma and chronic insomnia
I was wondering if anyone could offer me some advice. I have been asthmatic since I was two or three years old but until this week, I haven't had a flare up since before I was a teenager (I'm 27 tomorrow) so I haven't taken any medications until now. On Monday, my neighbour was cutting my grass for

MTX and lung problems.
I know MTX can cause trouble with lungs so just wanted to ask anyone with experience with this how does it present? I started back on MTX a couple of months ago as a side drug to my Infliximab treatment. Within hours of taking my second dose I had an allergic reaction just like hayfever - sneezing, itchy

Advice for a newbie
Hey, I've had asthma since 2007 aged 23, apart from winter and colds, flus etc I've had it under control using Clenil 50 2 puffs a day and Ventolin 100 when needed. In the last three weeks my symptoms have worsened and last Wednesday the doc put me on Clenil 100 taking 800 micrograms per day again Ventolin

Worried about current situation
Hi, I have had asthma all my life. Most of the time I had no symptoms, lately, it has been very bad - keeping me awake and coughing a lot. I get breathless very easily now. I was on Seretide 250 and Ventolin. Had a bad spell (needed several nebulisers over the last few weeks), now got a haemophilus

Anyone get this??
Hi, Just wondering if any of you can relate to this.... Last week, looking back, I was using Ventolin quite a lot more. I was getting out of breath more when climbing the stairs etc too. I went out Friday night with my husband and we walked into a bar which was quite stuffy and immediately I felt

Calcium and D3 ?????
Been put on high dose Calcium and D3 for osteoporosis...been taking it for over a week now and find my chest is so much better !!! I do not use my ventolin hardly now and do not have the horrible "caved in" feeling in my ribs. The downside is though that I do have muscle and bone pain which is common

COPD and Insulin Dependent Diabetes. Does anyone else here have both these conditions?
If you do, have you had to reduce your insulin intake since having COPD? I am having problems lately with my glucose levels dropping steadily and having 'hypos' even though my eating habits haven't changed. The only reason I can think of is that I am using up more calories through needing more energy

A difficult day
Some of you may know my mum has end stage COPD, we nearly lost her a few weeks ago. She has deteriorated quite rapidly and now can't do anything at all without desperately struggling to breathe. She is now receiving palliative care at home, she has made the decision that she no longer wants to go into

Ventolin
How many others are like me ?.....severe or very severe emphysema, where Ventolin (or its generics) have very little impact or benefit on my laboured breathing. It hasn't worked for a long time and so I am reliant on my Spiriva and Symbicort.

Pulmonary fibrosis
I would like to find other people with Pulmonary Fibrosis I feel so alone and would love to hear how other people manage it. I have been diagnosed 10 years ago and started on high dose steroids to get the symptoms under control, that was terrible as my face was so swollen, I eventually came down after

A Strategy for Dealing With Stress
At some point, all of us get into some sort of a stressful situation. Maybe we've done too much too quickly, or had a shock of some sort. We end up with low oxygen levels, panting and panicky, and our heart rate goes up. We're in trouble. First thing to do is STOP. Whatever it is we're doing STOP...

That'll learn me!
So - my asthma has been on the up since I got diagnosed with adrenal crap in March. Today I ... ... thought and tweeted about how chuffed my consultant will be at the difficult asthma clinic in 3 weeks when I tell him I haven't had a proper scary attack since March ... walked the dog this morning
