Have you had some Saturday exercise & fresh air today?
Lovely day here. Really warm. Nice brunch with my daughter Nellie then we spent the rest of the day walking in Richmond Park. It was quite exciting but at times scarey with the deer. They seemed to be everywhere, hundreds, we've never seen so many. All the big males were out making a din & being macho

How do you tell if an exacerbation is improving?
You'd think the answer to this is obvious, but for me it isn't. Over the course of a day my PF and symptoms can be all over the place. I'm trying to decide what to tell my doctor when we discuss how my current exacerbation is progressing and when and how to go down on the pred. What I want to do

Whoop doop! W1R3 completed.
I managed this without too much difficulty, and half way round, I realised that I had forgotten to have a puff of my ventolin inhaler. I managed without it, which is astonishing. Also, I stepped on the scales this morning, and I'm 4lb lighter. That can't be down to 3 short week 1 runs, surely? Overjoyed

W1R2 things I have learned
My upper thigh was so sore after my first run that I gave myself an extra rest day, did lots of yoga, and used ice packs. This morning it felt fine, so I though I'd give it a go. This time I used the podcast, slowed down when doing the running bit, as I think I was over ambitious last time, and used

Diagnosed with acute bronchitis, and I'm delighted, ecstatic, over the moon and thoroughly thrilled about it!
That might sound a bit odd, but I thought it was my asthma that was suddenly very much worse. I had to take myself off to the nearest walk-in clinic the other day, and for a nasty few moments they were talking about nebulisers and possible ambulances :( But after 10 puffs of ventolin (10!!! High as

How much better should I be at end of pred course?
Starting a new thread as I have a question rather than random moans. How much better should I be at the end of my pred course? Gp said see how I feel Sunday (last dose today) and go back Monday if needed, but didn't say what feeling better consisted of. I know that usually I can work fine whilst on pred

What a year this has been. Considering that 13 is my lucky number!! I thought am I in denial? Always faced things faced on but struggling right now. To be honest, been struggling since first post and that's what makes me think am I getting it wrong. Diagnosed July 2013 with COPD after spirometry

How do I carry everything?
Silly question I know - for 2 of my weekly runs I use a treadmill in the hotel gym - no problem, all my stuff stays on the treadmill. However at the weekend I do an outdoor run, and this is what I need to carry: - car key - phone (for tracking app) - iPod (for C25K podcast) - Ventolin inhaler (just

Struggling to breathe
Over the last ten days I have become more and more breathless. I do not appear to have an infection as sputum is clear. I am on symbicort 400/12 and Ventolin. During the summer despite having an awful lot of stress, I was coping and not dreadfully breathless. I do not like to pester my COPD nurse as

Not sure what to do with current exacerbation
I'm feeling very frustrated with my current exacerbation: not sure what to do, when to go back to GP, when to make a fuss.I don't want to wear him out with my frequent flares, so trying to limit visits to really serious situations. But what the heck does ""serious"" mean when every day I'm spending

Don't know what to do
It's been a while since I posted here as Thomas has had a fairly stable summer. Since the end of august we are back struggling despite his usual meds of seretide 125 2 puffs twice a day, nedocromil, flixonase and salbutamol. He had a course of steroids about 5 weeks ago and is now on another after an

Snakes and Ladders
Title is because this is what it feels like atm - I climb a small ladder then go down a big snake!! I'm seeing my cons next week - ughh what fun, need not say I would rather be having root canal or swimming with crocodiles. I'm pretty frustrated atm: a few weeks ago my breathing was NOT good to the

Frustration
It's so irritating when pf doesn't match how you feel. I know this has been said loads of times. I've had so much ventolin I'm shaking but the relief only lasts about 5 minutes. Symptoms aren't severe, I can still walk and talk but my chest just hurts and I'm short of breath sitting down. Yet peak flow

Atrovent inhaler.
Hi My son Thomas is on seretide 125, nedocromil, flixonase and ventolin. Since the weather started turning he already has had 1 course of steroids and is now on his first admission of this autumn/winter season. Last year he had quite a few admissions. Is anyone on Atrovent inhaler - have you found

Asthma and Antibiotics
I wonder if anyone can help me please.. My husband is currently out in Africa for a few months. He has told me over the last couple of weeks he has been having difficulties breathing as well as a persistent cough. Last week, he went to hospital where he had to do a sputum test. Unfortunately, they don't

Hello all, I haven't posted on here in quite some time, I'd sort of given up on trying to get any advice about my asthma. Over the eight week summer holiday period, I spent four weeks in hospital. When to take nebs
Hi, I'm probably being very silly here but sometimes I don't know when to take my nebs. I have had a hard time lately with my asthma and suspected bronchiectasis (not diagnosed yet as I am waiting for a CT scan but a lot of my symptoms point to it). I have days where I feel fine and days where I feel
