Changing from MDIs to DPIs for the environment
It concerns me when I read up the plans to change to dry powder inhalers (DPIs) that the patient's voice and experience seems not to be included in the discussion. I am all for being more environmentally friendly, but at what cost to at least some patients? 1. In 2019 I was swapped from Symbicort,

Ventolin and Cramps
Does anyone suffer the same when taking Ventolin. These mainly occur in my hands, ankles and lower legs. I also use Sereflo twice per day, so I only use Ventolin as a back up if the symptoms of asthma become worse. If you do have similar issues, do you have any strategies to deal with them? Thankyou

Anyone else had problems with Salamol CFC-Free MDI Inhaler 100mcg
I was given this in place of ventolin. From the start, it seemed like a ventolin inhalor when it's blocked (slow and sluggish to spray) two weeks in and hardly used it just stopped working at all. My doctors surgery have said ventolin is no longer available on the nhs and have now prescribed me airomir

undiagnosed, any suspicions/advice welcome
sorry I know no one can advise diagnosis as not clinical but just looking for suggestions and advice for when I see the cardiologist team. For two weeks I’ve been breathless, feeling unwell with lightheadedness when my heart rate goes too high, feeling sick, extremely exhausted. I’m asthmatic and

Tesco
Do people have particular shops that provoke their asthma. I did a short shop in tesco. Immediately I walked in, my asthma did not like it. I got round with four blasts of ventolin. I then left recovered in the car and then had no trouble walking around homebase.

Peak flow higher in the evening
Hello 👋 My GP has requested we keep a peak flow diary for my 8 year old son as she is quering he has asthma. We are on day 4 now and I've noticed his readings are always lower in the evening. Everything online says they are normally lower in the morning. Has anyone else had this? His morning readings

Getting off of prednisone not so simple.
I was told to stop my 1.5 mg per day dosage after going through the cortisol testing in Aug. About three months went by and I started having some nausea which got worse and my appetite was poor. Also had a breathing problem develop but never had a cold or sore throat. Dr. prescribed Prilosec and Ventolin

Steroid card Question
My combination inhaler is fostair 200/6 2 puffs twice a day. I carry a steroid card because I take this inhaler. However when I asked for another steroid card to put with my ventolin from the pharmacy yesterday, the pharmacist told me I don't need one. I am confused as I was told by asthma UK

Asthma or COPD?
Hello. Apologies for this rather long post. I have been asthmatic all my life (except the first year!) and am now 73. My asthma is pretty well controlled with daily Symbicort and Ventolin occasionally when needed. I can ride a cycle 15 miles (but admit to struggling with hills although I do have

Constant cough reflex
I just want to find out if anyone else suffers from the same as me, and if so what to do about it as it’s driving me crazy. I currently have a cough which started out as a tickly throat about a week ago causing all-consuming fits of coughing, eyes watering etc etc. But it’s evolved now into a seemingly

Peakflow v fev1
I have always been puzzled Re peakflow v fev. My best peakflow reading is 660, but at present I am in the low 400s with lots of ventolin to keep it out of the 300s, where I tend to lose control. I am rather out of breath. However my fev1 reading is in the high 300s which is perfectly OK given my age

Managing occasional breathlessness
I got rather breathless on my walk today as it was unexpectedly cold. It happens. Recently I was changed from Ventolin to Salamol. I am fine with that in principle, but I have had mixed results when using it. With Ventolin I know it starts to kick in after 10-15 minutes, but the first time I used Salamol

Ventolin and the heart pounding
It seems to my day to post. I had to take Ventolin this morning. My earlier post has some background on this. I rarely take Ventolin these days. I was about to phone 111 this morning when I thought I should take Ventolin before making demands for prednisolone. I took two puffs of Ventolin and went back

Something still not right…. Advice anyone? 🙏🏽
Hi there, I’m a 49 year old lifelong asthmatic. Very well controlled with Montelulast and Singulair 200. Never use ventolin. BUT when I get a cold, cough, Covid it sets me in a downward spiral. This is where I am at the moment. Ventolin is used daily. Had a cold toward end of Nov which went to my chest

Asthma attack in woodland - could it be leaf mould?
Hi, Hope you’re all well and enjoyed Xmas and new year. I’ve just experienced an asthma attack that went on and on, while walking my dog in the woods. I had to repeatedly take ventolin until I managed to get out of the woods (got lost while in there!🙄). The air was very cold and I didn’t think to

Feeling hopeless
Hello everyone, first post. I've had asthma since a child and I'm 43 now but only used a blue inhalor up till earlier this year. Now it's out of control if it is even asthma I'm not so sure anymore since the none of the meds seem to work and in fact some seem to make it worse and my peak flow goes down

Antihistamines for Post Covid Symptoms?
Hi, a few weeks ago I tested positive for Covid… It caused an asthma flare but my Fostair and Ventolin along with a course of Dexomethasone steroids seemed to have kept it manageable… Although the actual illness passed very quickly (temp, awful throat, horrible barking coughing fits) I have been left

Using an Expired Ventolin inhaler
A friend just gave me an unused Ventolin inhaler. A doctor friend of her’s claimed that it’s safe for me to use, even though it expired in 2018. Appreciate any replies🙂
