Went back to see GP, we discussed a lot of things, the changes that my body is going through and me not liking wot is happening to me, feeling short of breath a lot of the time, pain in chest and around the right lung and abdomen..... my GP took everything into account and sent me off for a heap of blood testwhich come back with reasons for my symptoms getting worse, my liver functions are dangerously high and my thyroid functins are very high to and apparently the Roxithromycin is the cause of my liver function s elevating as for my Thyroids well this has been a life time ongoing thing for me, but we have had to reduce the dosage again and advised to stop the Roxithromycin, now I have fear that things are going to worsen with treatment apart from the Breo green and Blue and Ventolin

Hang in there no matter how bad things seem right now. Enjoy the good days and I’m sending good vibes your way.

Hello Raka16 .

I'm sorry things seem so difficult at the moment. It sounds as though your doctor is quite thorough and has the bases covered. Deep breath, take a step at a time, this is just one of those really bad days. 😑 Rest as much as you can.

Remember that so far you've survived 100% of your worst days.

* Gentle hugs *

Hello Raka16. I have read both of your posts. You certainly have a complex situation with your thyroid, kidney and liver function problems and now bronchiectasis.

I am concerned because the treatment which you describe having is not really that for bronchiectasis. Were you diagnosed by a specialist in bronchiectasis and did they do a ct scan? If so, they should have written to your GP telling them how to treat you. Ongoing management basically involves the patient doing self physio every day to empty the lungs of mucus and antibiotic therapy when an exacerbation ( infection involving an increase of symptoms) occurs. This means the right antibiotic, in a high enough dose for at least 14 days. The correct antibiotic is usually decided by testing the sputum for the bacteria or the consultant having told the GP which one is best. The inhalers you are on and steroids are more usually treatment for COPD, or asthma. Steroids are not usually a treatment for bronchiectasis unless there is asthma with it.

Coughing up blood with bronchiectasis is a sign of an exacerbation which means you need the correct treatment. I’m afraid that GPs know virtually nothing about bronchiectasis but don’t want to admit it.

I suggest that if you have a bronchiectasis specialist you contact their secretary and tell them the chest problems that you are having. The consultant should then have you in or get in touch with your GP.

If you do not have a bronchiectasis specialist, look on the internet for one in your area. They are usually based at large teaching hospitals. Take the name to your GP and insist on a referral. Bronchiectasis is a condition which needs constant monitoring and daily management by patient and doctor together. A hit and miss approach will just not do as it only leads to more infection and further damage to the lungs.

Good luck, I hope that you can get this and your other conditions under control so that you can enjoy your life.

we are here for you.

Yes I am under a Respiratory Physician, yes I have had CT Scan, and lung function test,and all confirms that I have Bronchiectasis and Emphysema, the lung function test shows that my lung capacity is between 20 and 30%.... my Physician had put me on a long term course of antibiotics call Roxithromycin but how ever the side effects were that it elevates my liver function levels which my GP decided to stop this and send a letter to physician to see whwere we go from here.....

Hi, beautiful picture. I have asthma / bronchiectasis and problematic liver function. I was given low dose doxycillan to take daily - least likely to interfere. I hope they manage to find something that works for you soon
