Are there any links ?
As a result I have now been diagnosed with polycythemia and have had
venesection
weekly for 3 weeks. I am off to see the doctor for results of further tests today. Does anyone know if b12 and polycythemia are related in any way ?

Update on MPN Status and other items
I have had an oddity in that HCT has been steadily declining since my last
venesection
on 8/26. Went from 43.6 on 09/08, to 39.4 on 9/28, to 39.1 on 10/28. Will be getting another CBC next week. We will see what it is then.

long awaited venasection done yesterday &....
My concern now is getting them every 2 weeks as its rumoured the UK is going into another national lockdown on Wednesday, its taken till last week to get my
venesection
as my hospital wasn't doing them due to covid...fingers crossed that it won't alter my treatments.

Blood Test Help
Serum folate level 5.42 ug/L [> 5.38] Serum Folate Reference Range = Greater than 5.38 ug/L If the patient cannot be fasted be aware that a folate rich meal, eaten less than 3 hours prior to
venesection
, may increase serum folate concentrations.

Venesections
He has had just had his 3rd
venesection
. He went from 0.58 to 0.53 after 1st, 2nd one he stayed the same. Waiting for results on 3rd in 2 weeks time. Has anyone else stayed the same whilst going through this process? I thought that it would go down every time. Thanks in advance.

Excellent service
Had I been in the clinic I probably would have had a
venesection
then and there, however my consultant decided to continue with Pegasys and defer a
venesection
until my next appt on 2 October.

Low body temperature
I had my temperature checked today prior to
venesection
, the reading was 35.5, she took it 3 times to be sure. I've now checked this reading online and it's quite low. Has anyone with mpn had a similar reading? I have had cold hands and feet for the past year, more so in winter.

Increased meds
., up until this I was on daily Asprin and
Venesection
as needed. My Haemo decided to put me on Hydrea every other day. This I tolerated very well and until recently my bloods had remained below .45 and my Bone pain improved quite a bit.

Hello has anyone had to have a Covid test before they have their hospital appointment for their
venesection
? I have had my blood test which shows bloods up a bit and need a
venesection
next week but have to have a Covid test before. Feeling a little apprehensive.

Venesections and PPE
I went for my second
venesection
last Tuesday. Had the first of 2, three weeks ago and there were only 2 of us on the ward the first-time, so not much going on. Anyway, last Tuesday I turned up for appointment at 2pm and had my temperature taken before I was let on the ward.

Venesection
I was going to mention it to the nurse doing my
venesection
, but the triage nurse came onto the ward then and he asked her to go to the pharmacy to collect my Hydroxy to save me going.

Venesection Update
Hello all, My CNS e mailed me this morning, apologised for what had happened and said she will deal with it. I guess that’s the last I will hear. Fingers crossed I don’t need to go for another one in the near future! I bought material and elastic today to make face masks 🙂 Very best wishes to all. Judy

Hydroxycarbamide or pegylated interferon?
At the moment I am on daily Aspirin and
venesection
about every 2 months when levels are over 45 (usually between 43 and 47), platelets between 575-650). My consultant has said that as I am now 60 she wants me to start either Hydroxy or peg interferon and there's my dilemma!!

Ferritin Level
Anyway yesterday the nurse doing my
venesection
asked me what my results were, as usual I had no idea other than PCV. She checked letter from haematoligist and haemoglobin in range but Ferritin level is apparently 4. Does anyone with PV know what their Ferritin level is for comparison.

Got my iron results
She said my haemaglobin was okay and asked when I last had
venesection
, which was 5 years ago. She told me to take the iron tablets urgently until I could talk to the haematologist (June 2nd) for advice. She told me my iron results had never been high (around 26) but this is unacceptably low.
