Venesection Update
Hello all, My CNS e mailed me this morning, apologised for what had happened and said she will deal with it. I guess that’s the last I will hear. Fingers crossed I don’t need to go for another one in the near future! I bought material and elastic today to make face masks 🙂 Very best wishes to all. Judy

Hydroxycarbamide or pegylated interferon?
At the moment I am on daily Aspirin and
venesection
about every 2 months when levels are over 45 (usually between 43 and 47), platelets between 575-650). My consultant has said that as I am now 60 she wants me to start either Hydroxy or peg interferon and there's my dilemma!!

Ferritin Level
Anyway yesterday the nurse doing my
venesection
asked me what my results were, as usual I had no idea other than PCV. She checked letter from haematoligist and haemoglobin in range but Ferritin level is apparently 4. Does anyone with PV know what their Ferritin level is for comparison.

Got my iron results
She said my haemaglobin was okay and asked when I last had
venesection
, which was 5 years ago. She told me to take the iron tablets urgently until I could talk to the haematologist (June 2nd) for advice. She told me my iron results had never been high (around 26) but this is unacceptably low.

Has anyone in Scotland received a letter regarding isolating due to Covid-19 and MPN?
I have a
venesection
booked for Wednesday afternoon to deal with my high red blood cell count and HCT. I have not see my gp for 4 years as my mpn is managed by the haematology department at the local hospital. The last time I was at the gp I mentioned my mpn to him and he had never heard of it.

Haematology phone call.
I now have a
venesection
booked and will get a letter to tell me when and where. Is it just me, or are we just getting seen by students who just want to tick a box on their test papers!

Bit nervous about what to do.
I am due for a
venesection
on 27th of this month. Take low dose of aspirin 75mg one a day. I feel fine. Also do have asthma and I haven't had a flu jab. Just confused by all of this, sorry for rambling a bit.

PV, JAK2+ Hydroxy and Pega. Been up and down with my hct, they added Interferon about 2 years ago, not much change, some venesections etc. Over the last three visits, my hct has come down, spoke to the consultant this morning, very pleased, next appointment (telephone) in 3 months and a reduction in

12 Week isolation with PV or not?
I've seen that others are receiving texts or letters telling them that they are at high risk and to self isolate for 12 weeks. I saw on the TV this morning that anyone with blood cancers should be doing this. I have PV, JAK 2 positive, currently treated with venesections and low dose aspirin. I haven't

Just got back from hospital appointment for blood test/
venesection
/prescription fulfillment. The place and staff were calm as a can be, half full carparks & free parking, and the dispensary working at a 5 minute turnround rather than the usual 30.

Polycythemia and Covid19
Hi everyone sorry I haven't been on here for a while but I am doing fine and still am poly Jak2 negative. My Venesections are now 4 weekly from 6 weekly previously and I am 9 years in treatment. The only change I have noticed in the last 6 months is a little weight loss but I'm not too bothered about

Venesections and Mobile Chemotherapy Unit
I was diagnosed with PV some years ago and need a
venesection
every two months. I live in a coastal town in Somerset. There is a small hospital but it is unable to offer treatment. A Mobile Chemotherapy Unit (MCU) visits the town every week and I was able to have my treatment on that.
