I had my temperature checked today prior to venesection, the reading was 35.5, she took it 3 times to be sure. I've now checked this reading online and it's quite low. Has anyone with mpn had a similar reading? I have had cold hands and feet for the past year, more so in winter.
Low body temperature: I had my temperature checked... - MPN Voice
Low body temperature
I have a lot of fevers but when my temp is in the normal range I run below normal around 36.4. Low body temp can be a sign of hypothyroidism.
I have my temp took in morning when I’m at work. Several times mines been 34.1 and 35.2 mostly. They told me to get in touch with doc when it was 34. Strange because been up 3 hours walked dog and gone to work in that time. It’s risen bit more through day. I looked it up to. Felt ok though and do suffer cold hands and feet. I have redness on palms and soles.
Iron deficiency can affect body temp. Have you had your iron levels checked?
Interesting that low iron can affect body temperature. I don't feel the cold. There has been times when work colleagues have been sat on the radiator in thick jumpers saying they're cold and I've been in a short sleeved open neck shirt and was quite comfortable. Every night at some point I have to sleep outside the duvet as I feel so hot. I have PV and current Ferritin level is 4.
I too have a low body temperature, my norm is 35.6 my 10 yr old son is the same, so I’ve never thought much of it! I get very cold hands and feet, my feet are often white / blue my hands are often cold to touch too, part of being put on hydroxy was to try and improve this, but my platelets have never really reduced and it hasn’t improved that much 🤷🏻♀️ I’d be interested to know what advice your given?
I have a low body temperature, too. Last time measured it was 34.8C. I have found hot weather quite difficult, sweating a lot in the heat. With normal temperatures I feel absolutely fine.
Thanks for all you replies, it's reassuring to know others have similar levels. I shall buy myself a thermometer and keep an eye on it.
Checking the thyroides and working with cold showers to tolerate the cold is good for us. Then, a proper diet to control your proinflamatory genes. Calm down these.
