Hello has anyone had to have a Covid test before they have their hospital appointment for their venesection? I have had my blood test which shows bloods up a bit and need a venesection next week but have to have a Covid test before. Feeling a little apprehensive.

Covid test
No hubby usually just arrives all masked up, has temperature taken, asked if any symptoms & let in.
Thanks chaz. I had that just for blood test yesterday but as I have to have a venesection they have said I need to be tested.
I had one before being admitted to hospital for surgery on a broken wrist. It made me gag a little for a second but it was fine and over very quickly. It’s nothing to worry about. Karen
I have a Covid test 48 hours before each transfusion - It makes me gag but over in seconds - it’s nothing to be scared of!

It takes about 20 seconds max for both nasal and throat swab to be taken Maisie, you’ll gag a little and feel a bit scratchy at the back of your nose afterwards. It’s not painful and I’d give it 2/10 on the discomfort scale
I have been COVID tested twice - once prior to a pre-op clearance with my PCP and once pre-op - 2 days before the surgery. Both were negative. The procedure is a bit uncomfortable, but less so than a venesection. Suggest not worrying about it as it really is not that big of a deal - just a swab that gathers a sample from the back of your sinuses. There is a bit of pressure/discomfort - then it is over. Having the result come back negative is rather nice to know as well.
No test, but temperature taken before I was allowed on ward for venesection. Nurses wore masks, gloves and aprons. They changed gloves and aprons and hand washing before going to next patient. Each blood monitoring machine was washed down between patients and also strap to raise vein was washed. I had 2 venesections in 3 weeks, same process each time. Beds/chairs were at least 2m apart. Felt very safe.
yep, my hospital changed procedure to now include a negative covid test before a venesection visit. Didn't stop them still going through all the covid symptoms questions before being allowed in, though.
