Our friend LYN-PARZA
My husband started Lynparza mid January 2022 with a PSA of 238. His PSA is now 73. We hope to remain friends with Lynparza as long as possible. Side effects are low white counts and he had to stop xgeva for a while due to low calcium levels. We are scheduling blood work every 14 days to check to

Why does every country have different dosage recommendations for calcium, as well as other vitamins?
In the u.s., the guideline is to get 1200 mg of calcium if over a certain age and to get 800 iu's of vitamin d. How can these numbers differ depending on where you live? A fact is a fact, no matter what country it's in.

Collagen for bone health
I researched it and found that it's helpful for bones, but no one talks about it like we talk about calcium. Should we be taking collagen?

Ct scan, metal wire in chest
Hi all, I'm due to have a CT cardiac angiogram and CT cardiac cor artery calcium scoring in a few weeks. This is probably a silly question but will the metal wire in my chest from my bypass sternectomy (as well as a lot of metal in my dental work) be a problem? Thanks in advance all for any advice/

Calcium supplements not good for you
I've been doing a lot of reading. When I first started out, I didn't even know bone regrows every ten years. I've read that calcium supplements cause calcification and that it's better to get calcium from diet. Then I learned that the body can only absorb 500 mg at a time and that vitamin d is needed

Calcium Calculator
Has anyone found a calcium calculator app or online source? I am trying to get my calcium from sources other than dairy and finding it very difficult to find calcium content given in standard portion sizes. It would be great if there’s an app that can track my calcium consumption for the day, but I haven

Should Early Use of Chemotherapy Be Avoided in the Treatment of Metastatic Prostate Cancer?
Interesting editorial in JMA [Japan Medical Association] Journal: "The therapeutic strategy for advanced prostate cancer has dramatically changed recently. Previously, docetaxel was the only drug with evidences showing improved overall survival (OS) in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer

Channel blockers
Hi there! Please has anyone had experience of calcium channel blockers? I’ve struggled with beta blockers and it’s been suggested I try these instead . I have AF and find the Beta blockers reduce my BP to an unmanageable level..... when I’ve never had a BP problem before, resulting in extreme lightheadedness

Newbie needing help to understand blood results.
I had the remaining half of my thyroid removed at the end of august last year due to a non malignant tumour. (First half 10 years ago for same reason) I live in Spain and am under the care of a private endocrinologist. I was immediately started on 100mg of levothyroxine (brand Eutirox) and calcium

Prostate pain - xtandi/Xofigo & spot radiation
Hi all, just wanted to check if anyone would have any idea as to why Dad's prostate area is sore. He went to do a few minutes on his Excercise bike last week and said the pain in his prostate area was bad, he is getting up more frequently to pee at night (no pain but dribbles) and then today she said

Update on weaning off Prednisolone - Methotrexate- any good?
Hi, just an update. Some will have read my recent post where my rheumatologist seemed to have forgotten I was still on 10mg or Prednisolone and had been for too long. He gave me 8 weeks supply to come of it completely and I had terrible problems and a nasty flare up. He then told me to go back up to

Dose reduction /Blood Pressure and supplements.
Hi, Great to find this group!! I was diagnosed with PMR in December (5 weeks ago) by which time I was in agony with hips and shoulders . Started on 15mg pred. which settled things by about 80% . After 2 weeks, the pain and discomfort grew again and I managed to persuade the doctor to prescribe 20 mg
