Urso is only slowing the progression.We need to stop the progression The liver is the only organ that can regenerate itself.If we could stop the agression of the nkt, i think that is the answer

So I guess the Urso is doing its job at slowing down the process of the disease. Dr. Didn’t seem concerned about the raise in labs. He said we would repeat labs in three months.

I am on urso, my liver seems to be doing really well and I'm generally reasonably healhy except for the itching I have been struggling with for the last 3-4 years.

I've been on URSO for 2 years. It's never brought my alk-phos to normal. That's the only lft that's been elavated. Recently my liver enzymes have been climbing. Ast, alt, and alk-phos. My doctors are like "Eh... Let's watch them." Like it's a sporting event.

Have been on URSO since. As of today I am an URSO responder and I am asymptomatic. I have been doing a lot of research on trying to heal the body and reduce inflammation. In hopes of "reversing the disease". I recently met with a naturopathy doctor. After all her testing.

Does anyone get joint pain from pbc or is it from taking the urso.Also would like to know about any experience of getting reflux after taking urso for 3 years.

I am now on the Urso tablets and see the specialist again end of Nov. Don't really know what to expect now. It is good to know there are other people out there and don't feel as scared about it now.

But whats PBC i asked so was given a leafle told it explained everything put on 2 URSO 2 twice daily and would be seen at regular intervals to monitor my condition.

I’m on 1000 mg of Urso daily. My alk phas has always run between 130 and 140. My dr was happy with those numbers. All of the sudden it has jumped up to 175. I always maintain a healthy diet and exercise along with yoga.

Hi all, I’ve been on URSO since Dec 2015 and had intermittent bouts of itching. More noticeable when I’m tired or stressed, but my LFTs have come right down to normal levels and fibroscan shows liver is healthy.

I just wondered is this likely to be a symptom of PBC or a side effect of the reflux drug or URSO. Anyone have anything similar and found a solution? Thanks Bev

I was diagnosed in 2016 and have been on URSO since then. Thought to have been in very early stages. Labs initially only slightly elevated (Alk phos and ALT) but quickly normalized.

Should I be asking for Urso treatment, even if my Lfts (Alk-Phos particularly) return to normal or near-normal levels? It's been 10 years and I'm nearing 50 - maybe it's time to stop watching and waiting? Thanks for any thoughts you might have.

Before I arrange to go and see him, any questions I should ask, any side effects or Urso?

Hi, I have a diagnosis of PBC since 2008 and I am on urso 750 daily. I have a yearly US and I am wondering what is the purpose of a fibroscan. I know it will give a better indication of where you are at but it won’t change medication or treatment as a result ?

Hi Rleo I’ve always taken my unsolicited with all my other pills then had a glass of milk or yogurt then 12 hours later repeat for the evening pills I only take pain killers at lunch time if needed My dr put me on slow release tramadol 100mgstwelve hours apart. Again yogurt or banana. Hope that helps

During pregnancy I was diagnosed with cholestasis (high bile acids, normal LFT) and put on urso. After pregnancy I had slightly elevated alt (41) and tested positive for AMA. Not on urso anymore. I guess the positive AMA and symptoms is what makes the doctor suggest a biopsy.

So 5 months taking URSO I am finding inch getting a lot worse. I`m seeing GP soon can he give me anything that helps? Liver specialist at hospital wants me to have an endoscopy. As I have a fear of swollowing anything even the URSO is a struggle I don`t want this done.
