A new paper strongly linking chronic kidney disease and lowered creatine disposal rate with hypothyroidism & TPOAb
This paper just out in Thyroid shows a strong link between chronic kidney disease and hypothyroidism and TPOAb, leading to a poorer action of disposal of creatine by lowered excretion.

COULD PMR BE A PHENOMENA OF THE GUT?
Hi. I have posted messages here in the past and want to offer a personal opinion on PMR and a possible explanation for how it may be caused. Let me say up front I have no medical training and I am not trying to sell anything. I have simply lived with PMR for 5 years and had it go away once and come back

Hyperthyroidism. Strange side affects, anyone else with the same? Also has anyone tried CBD oil to alleviate symptoms?
Hi All, I am newly diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I live in Spain so I am not sure if the blood analysis is the same but here are my results T3 14.69 should be within 2.02 - 4.43 T4 3.19 should be within .85

Following sepsis last year I've been taking CBD oil,and what a difference this has made to my well being. I sleep through the night wake up fresh and my minds a lot clearer. I now read that because I'm on statins where grapefruit is forbidden I shouldn't be taking this either. Really sad about this.

Holiday insurance
Hi. I know this topic has been discussed before on here and that’s how I got some good tips. Thank you all. Yesterday after going through 20 quotes and comparison sites the cheapest I got was £277.00 for 2 weeks in Florida. I had a stroke and I am on Apixaban statins and perindopril and no Hospital

A life sentence
Trigger for health anxiety, GAD, agoraphobia. I’ve had anxiety for over 40 years and for the most it has ruled my life. The consequences now is that I have high blood pressure, am on statins for high cholesterol and have frequent ectopic beats. Most of this is my own doing as I do little exercise as

Acheing muscles
Hi all, just a statin question, I am starting to get the old muscle aches regularly now which I believe could be an unpleasant side edge t of the statins! Does anybody else get these and is there a solution other than reducing dosage or stopping all together which I defintaley don’t want to do! Maybe

Statins - More Good News
It is already well known that statins have many benefits. These include the lowering of cholesterol (particularly LDL), stabilisation of existing plaque and reduction of irritation (often a precursor to plaque formation). Today I restarted the course of dental treatment that was put on hold following

Still concerned about statins
I know this has been talked about quite recently but........! My cholesterol levels were 364, the doctor put me on statins about 2 years ago. I have never had a heart problem and most of you seem to say "you don't really need statins if there are no other symptoms of heart strain". I then decided to

Atorvastatin and colchicine interaction
Had a really bad gout attack that started a couple of weeks ago and won’t subside. Used to take ibuprofen to tackle inflammation but since heart issues I’ve been told to avoid NSAIDS. So figured I’d suffer the pain and wait for the gout to run it’s course. Usually my attacks don’t last much more than

Statins for women
I've been accused of 'scaremongering' in the past for flagging up the experimental results related to statin "therapy" and explaining how to interpret the statistics (which isn't immediately obvious unless you've had some training). I'm doing a little more of this scaremongering in the LCHF thread today

Statins for women
You guys might be getting a little sick of my ongoing rants about statins (especially since I'm preaching to the choir) but I do like practicing my ranting skills, and we get a surprising number of women both here and on the NHS group who are "on statins". I did a bit of googling to see what the latest

Balanitis/Fungal/Bacterial Infection - Solution Found
After 1 year of misery, I have cured myself. The solution/cure that worked for myself: Fucidin ointment 2%, applied on the glans and foreskin once a day for two weeks. For those that are interested, here is my story: It all started after I used my fleshlight the second time. I didn't clean it after

What if we could prevent strokes?
I posted this review of an academic paper in the LCHF group - because it's the sort of thing low-carbers like - but I really think it's one of those things everyone should read. It's particularly relevant to the conversation about statins from a couple of weeks back. https://healthunlocked.com/lchf-diet

What if we could prevent strokes?
Strokes are probably more feared than heart attacks, because a serious one can rob you of your most valued faculties: your mind or your mobility. Because of what they do to the patient, they also represent a costly burden on the heath service. Wouldn't it be nice if we knew what caused them? It turns

Angioplasty support
I am new to the forum and just wanted to provide any support for anyone undergoing a stent procedure or recovering from one. I am a 61 year old male and I kept myself active with running, sailing, cycling etc. However, I started to become breathless when walking the dog. Net result was that I needed

Effect of rhTSH on Lipids.
We can speculate. If rising TSH causes total cholesterol, triglycerides and high density lipoprotein cholesterol all to rise, why is it OK for people to see their TSH allowed to reach 10.0 (or higher) before any treatment? (Of course, we also have all the questions over the real importance of cholesterol

Help please!!! Losing the will to carry on.
Thyroidectomy 1992 due to cancer. Since then been on levothyroxine. Since my last post here in Nov 2019 concerning hyperthyroidism and cardio issues my physical, emotional and mental health has deteriorated greatly. Honestly, I am losing the will to carry on which really scares me. I am drained mentally

Fibroscan shows slight fatty liver
I was diagnosed early stage 1 in 2000 and have responded well to Urso, LFT's came back to almost normal in the first year and have stayed there since. I went for a fibroscan yesterday. Although I have to wait for the liver specialist to interpret the results, the nurse who did the scan told me there
