TRH test
I’m having a TRH test next week because of unusual thyroid function tests (raised fT4, top of range fT3 and non-suppressed TSH). Has anyone had the test and what can I expect?

Diet and Hashimoto's incidence
Too much meat. more chance of Hashimoto's seems to be the gist of this new paper: I think several on here will say "well fancy that!"

Paper linking covid and thyroid function changes in early pregnancy
This paper (only as yet out as an abstract and title, shows how covid affects thyroid function in early pregnancy. Might be useful to those unfortunate enough to have covid whilst getting pregnant:

New paper
We've just had published in Frontiers (downloadable) a paper which, using the results of a large meta-analysis, challenges the authors' relationship of TSH to risk factors in other diseases, and by a better, more focussed analysis shows it is FT4 that is more important. FT3 was not considered so that

On bone marrow biopsy (BMB)?
Hello everyone, People with PV/ET regularly (e.g., per month) test their blood to keep track of cell counts and other things. How about bone marrow biopsy (BMB)? Are there repeats of BMB test to check changes after the first one that was performed to detect any mutation like JK2 ? If yes, how the results

NDT and T3 use given support by US workers
This publication just out in Thyroid journal discusses using NDT (DTE) and T3 in suitable circumstances. It is I believe the opening of the door that has closed against NDT and T3 use, and in the future should encourage properly designed trials. They acknowledge the existence of a subset of patients

Follow-on from last posts
I posted recently about a large study where higher FT4, but no other tests such as TSH and FT3, had an influence on atrial fibrillation likelihood. We've now had a paper on the same lines and with basically the same conclusion accepted by Frontiers in Thyroid Endocrinology:

Thyroid hormones are better diagnostics than TSH
This letter from us has been published in the journal Thyroid. It defends a paper by others who have shown by a large study that FT4 is better than TSH in diagnostic utility. Unfortunately FT3 wasn't done, but at least the focus has moved away from TSH.

L-thyroxine Malabsorption Due to Calcium Carbonate Impairs Blood Pressure, Total Cholesterolemia, and Fasting Glycemia
Just in case anyone thinks that advice to separate calcium (and iron) from levothyroxine is a figment of our imaginations, have a look at this paper. Not only does the paper make a point about separating taking of calcium and levothyroxine, by a long time, but they emphasise that doctors, including

L-thyroxine malabsorption due to calcium carbonate impairs blood pressure, total cholesterolemia, and fasting glycemia
Suggestions to separate taking levothyroxine from medicines/supplements is very frequent on this forum. And, yet again, backed up by research. These women will not have decided on their own, "let us take calcium carbonate after levothyroxine". No, of course not. Some medic, somewhere, will have suggested

A new paper strongly linking chronic kidney disease and lowered creatine disposal rate with hypothyroidism & TPOAb
This paper just out in Thyroid shows a strong link between chronic kidney disease and hypothyroidism and TPOAb, leading to a poorer action of disposal of creatine by lowered excretion.

Hyperthyroidism. Strange side affects, anyone else with the same? Also has anyone tried CBD oil to alleviate symptoms?
Hi All, I am newly diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I live in Spain so I am not sure if the blood analysis is the same but here are my results T3 14.69 should be within 2.02 - 4.43 T4 3.19 should be within .85

Effect of rhTSH on Lipids.
We can speculate. If rising TSH causes total cholesterol, triglycerides and high density lipoprotein cholesterol all to rise, why is it OK for people to see their TSH allowed to reach 10.0 (or higher) before any treatment? (Of course, we also have all the questions over the real importance of cholesterol

Dukoral - Cholera Vaccine
I just took my first dose of Dukoral. I will wait a week to take the second dose. A friend of mine who lives outside of Detroit Michigan went over to Windsor and made the purchase and had no problem crossing the border with it. He declared it as an over the counter diarrhea med. The agent laughed

Getting results
Sorry if this is a rely dumb question. I had a load of bloods done last week and a trh test, via an endo appointement. I was told that they would call Monday with the results. No one called and my gp surgery doesn't have the results. How do I get the results, I don't really have any way of talking
