What over the counter meds for stomach upset can I take with Warfarin? Before Warfarin I took Alka Seltzer and Pepto Bismol.
I was told I can take gas x and imodium. Are there any other OTC meds I can take without aspirin? Thank you.

T3 supplies
Could people who are ordering their T3 direct, either online or offline, please PM me to let me know where you get your supplies? How much do they cost, and how fast do they arrive? I want to get in a supply to top up what my endo prescribes, ready to start a T3-only trial after a TRH test next week

Switching from T4 only to T4/T3 combo. Is anyone happy to share experiences?
I was on 75mcg levo (T4) for years. Recent blood test results have suggested poor conversion of T4 to T3. My endo suggested 50mcg T4 with 10mcg T3. TSH stayed the same (oddly) but FT4 was then near bottom of scale and FT3 off bottom of scale. I then tried 75mcg T4/20mcg T3. Suspecting T4 may be

Impact of alcohol use on thyroid function.

A Novel Minimal Mathematical Model of the Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Thyroid Axis Validated for Individualized Clinical Applications
On the one hand, we keep getting told that medics know exactly how to get our doses right. Simple, isn't it? And "they" know all about how it works. (Sorry - can't be bothered to carry on with the usual stuff we all know.) On the other hand we read an abstract which is able to say: [i]"... each H [

This Is Spinal Tap - FT3 levels
Why do so many people fail to feel much better with levothyroxine despite an apparently adequate serum FT4 level? Could it be that the cerebro-spinal fluid levels of free T3 fail to rise in line with either FT3 in blood serum, or with FT4 in serum and CSF? This paper certainly provides grounds

Dont understand what's happening to me - extremely frightened....
I'm 42, have Hashis, diagnosed 4 years ago, currently on 75mcg Levo and 10mcg T3. Last blood results in September were TSH 10.7 (0.27-4.2) FT4 13.3 (12-22) FT3 3.1 (3.1-6.8). Over the last 3/4 months I have been going badly downhill. I have always struggled with fatigue, depression, aches and pains

Elevated free thyroxine and non-suppressed thyrotropin (TSH)
We are all different. Most of us would be extremely ill with an FT4 of 36.9 (without needing to check the precise reference range!). At the same time, we would probably have a suppressed TSH - not one in the range 6.78 to 22.1. But this case seems to prove that for one individual these results really

Changing the Timing of Thyroxine Ingestion
The questions about when to take levothyroxine keep coming - and that is not surprising! The Patient Information Leaflets, most written information, doctors, nurses and most everything else is so stuck with taking levothyroxine in the morning, it isn't a matter "thinking" that it is right. It is a matter

THYROTROPIN ISOFORMS - IMPLICATIONS FOR TSH ANALYSIS AND CLINICAL PRACTICE
On the day that Dr Toft tells the Scottish Parliament that TSH maybe isn't 100% perfect, a paper which expressly investigates one reason that may be the case. Although we think of TSH as being a single substance - that isn't quite true. It comes in slightly different variations - called isoforms.

Help with results please
These are my Mum's results. TSH 2.6, Free T4 15.7 (10-12) and Free T3 3.8 (3-5). These were taken on the NHS. She paid to be seen today by the same doc but privately to speed things up as couldn't get apt to get results and GP no allowed to divulge!. It was suggested she have a TRH test, 24 hr

Breast tenderness -- why it's been causing me so much grief!!
Hi there I wrote a question yesterday regarding some pain/swelling in the area above my clavicle. Luckily my GP has said it's nothing more than a very large cyst normally associated with the menstrual cycle. That got me thinking and so I found something that seems to make perfect sense to me.

Had the TRH test - looks like it's down to me then! Any advice on getting T3 or vegetarian adrenal supplements welcome......
Okay, as promised I said I'd let anyone interested know what the TRH test was like. It was fine really, apart from the registrar messing about and not seeming like he knew what he was doing! The only effect I felt was needing to have a wee, which passed quickly, apart from that I felt the same

As some of you know I am awaiting a TRH test , I have now been told it will be 24/6/13.
I cannot wait for this test to be done so I can go back on my thyroid meds!!! I am now at the end of my 4th week without any T4 or T3. As per last time I came off my meds(my own decision), the first two weeks weren't too bad. The first couple of days I had some aches returning and felt a bit more

Yersinia and Graves' Disease?
Nice to see a bit of UK research at the cutting edge on thyroid issues. If only I knew enough to properly understand it! [i]J Immunol. 2013 Jun 1;190(11):5373-81. doi: 10.4049/jimmunol.1203412. Epub 2013 Apr 29.

Now off all meds in preparation for TRH Test.
Last time I tried this, I felt better for a couple of weeks, then went down hill pretty quick. This time I have to stay off all meds for about 4 weeks - just hoping I don't end up virtually housebound again :( I am actually interested to see the test results though as far as how my thyroid is working

Trying really hard to keep a grip. Feel like I'm always moaning on here, so sorry!
Feel like this is the only place I can say what's happening and how I feel. Kind of reaching the end of the road. Endo just phoned to say all tests are normal - Selenium - well in range, prolactin normal, Lyme disease - negative(although he did say it doesn't mean a future test wouldn't show a positive

Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone - Why Efforts to Harmonize Testing Are Critical to Patient Care
The whole area of TSH testing has been discussed, criticised, acclaimed, and generally confused for years. Here is an interesting article which is, in my view, well worth reading. [i]

Hypothyroidism, Euthyroidism and Hyperthyroidism can be regarded as differently regulated entities
Today’s blog is an abstract of a paper which seems to be doing what I believe is an essential step in understanding thyroid hormone disorders. They are using computerised modelling. I believe there is no other way to really understand because when you try to deal with all the variables (even keeping

Levothyroxine with breakfast? – Maybe not...
Happened to see two papers which compare taking levothyroxine in the morning well away from breakfast against taking it with breakfast. The difference was, in my view, very significant in terms of TSH – which was all that they seemed to care about. Going from 1.06 (away from breakfast) to 2.93
