Effective Management of Polycythemia Vera With Ropeginterferon Alfa-2b Treatment
Discussion; The results in our study demonstrate that the new dosing regimen of 250-350-500 µg of ropeginterferon alfa-2b is well-tolerated and highly efficacious in patients suffering from PV. This dosing regimen was associated with a rapid achievement of CHR without the need for phlebotomy or erythrocyte

Need your advice please
For the last 60 years I have been a vigilant weight watcher, daily exerciser and have watched my calorie intake. When I commenced treatment for my Essential Thrombocytosis in January 2021, my weight was 53.5kg. Three years later this has ballooned to 60.3kg, despite my efforts to control any

Individualized Dosing of Ropeginterferon Alfa-2b Ensures Optimal Response in Patients with Low-Risk Polycythemia Vera (PV)
Conclusions: High long-term response rates (80.4% at 24 months; 73.2% at 72 months) were achieved with ropeginterferon alfa-2b treatment in the low-risk PV population when the dose was optimized on an individual basis. No specific baseline characteristics among low-risk PV patients appear to be associated

Peginterferon alfa-2a
Hola! I'm new to this group and newly diagnosed with essential thrombocythemia. The treatment prescribed is peginterferon alfa-2a. So far I have done one treatment and wow does it suck! I haven't seen anyone else talking about this course of treatment. Is anyone else doing this? I sure could use some

American Thyroid Association - Thyroid Hormone Testing overview
Like most documents, this has strengths and weaknesses. You might find it easier to follow than some. Though some of it really is quite hard for those not already familiar with thyroid issues. Or more up-to-date (it was published this year - 2024). And it might provide some useful and quotable

US-based, Prospective, Blinded Study of Thyrotropin Receptor Antibody in Autoimmune Thyroid Disease
A rather disappointing paper. First, the full paper is, as so often, behind a paywall. Also, because the the paper doesn't come out with a clear "Yes, the tests are wonderful and reliable." It is quite clear that there is sufficient uncertainty to question all results from these tests. We have had

Hi just after some help please. I have had suppressed TSH levels since 2010, apart from a blip in 2014 when it was 2 pmol/l. (range is 0.35 to 4.7. ). My level has been consistently low at 0.02 pmol/l from 2018 to 2024. My T4 has been in range over the years ( 7.8 to 21) however my T3 was raised at

Peginterferon alfa 2a or Hydroxycarbamide for PV?
My consultant has said I need to start treatment for PV and has asked me to choose between them. I'd really welcome any recommendations. I am new to this site, apologies uf this has been asked before.

Event-free survival in patients with polycythemia vera treated with Besremi versus best available treatment
»Normal life expectancy may be achievable in PV based on comparable overall survival in interferon-treated patients and a matched US population (p = 0.3), contrasting with shortened survival (p = 0.03) in non-interferon treated patients at the same academic center [3]. Although overall survival was

secondary hypo and doctor questioning diagnosis
Hello everyone, I moved to a new GP in the last few years (house move). When I moved, my doctor just continued prescribing levothyroxine because it was on my records and although he wasn't testing T3 he did look at T4 and seemed to listen to me when I explained the levels I needed to be at, in order

Preconception Thyrotropin Levels and Thyroid Function at Early Gestation in Women With Hashimoto Thyroiditis
Of course, research is necessary. We can all make lots of assumptions, guesses, which turn out to be entirely wrong. But this paper does seem to endorse what many here have said. If you are going to become pregnant, that itself will tend to raise TSH levels. If you want to keep below any chosen TSH

Early 50s male, healthy till hypothyroidism my first few months experience of treatment
I don't usually share info on the internet, but as a lot of material out there is aimed at women or Americans (I mean no offence to either!) I thought I'd stay my experience so far. Diagnosis, what does it all mean, and treatment/first medications. DIAGNOSIS Late 2022 I saw a nurse as I was taking longer

TSH is just the 'opinion' of your Pituitary about your dose ~ but your Pituitary's 'opinion' is a bit warped once you take Thyroid Hormone.
These first two papers can be used to prove that on T4 monotherapy , a dose that is enough to 'satisfy' the hypothalamus /pituitary (ie. lowers TSH to the bottom end of the ref range) , does not necessarily provide 'enough' T3 to all the other tissues... some other tissues can remain hypothyroid despite

Computer-Assisted Levothyroxine Dose Selection for the Treatment of Postoperative Hypothyroidism
A paper which causes me significant concern. This is my blog which explains, I hope, my deep scepticism about existing prediction of required levothyroxine doses. [i]

Real world experience with Besremi in ET and PV following exposure to Pegasys.
Abstract Despite widespread use of Pegylated forms of Inteferon in the management of Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPN), most clinicians have experience predominantly with peginterferon alfa-2a (Pegasys). Third generation pegylated IFNα, ropeginterferon alfa-2b (ropegIFN; Besremi), was recommended

vegetarian diet that comprises plant lectins is related to a greater incidence of PD compared to a diet dominated by meat consumption
So if you Google "vegetarian risk Parkinson's" you will be flooded with articles saying that vegetarian is best for PD and that PD risk is lower for vegetarians. I am not disputing this. But... I was reading this very short paper: https://sci-hub.st/10.1016/S0016-5085(14)60326-7
