Hypothyroidism help
I had a
thyroidectomy
in 1984, to remove benign growths. The surgeon said about 25% thyroid remained, but he thought I would not need subsequent medication. I was not told to have regular thyroid function tests, and carried on with my busy life.

Private Endo and T3
Had total
thyroidectomy
2 years ago. I had my private consultation with the Endo 2 weeks ago and he proposed a 3 months trial of Litho - 20mcg a day - split 10mcg on waking (7am) and 10mcg at 2pm (I have a pill cutter) and reducing my Levo to 100mcg for 6 days and nothing on day 7.

T3 (Cytomel): How would you fit it in these results? Or would you? And all the mistakes I have made on this journey
*I could hardly get through a day *yet here I am, due to finances, back on levothyroxine only and now doing fine *A lot of my previous levothyroxine issues probably had to do with my endocrinologist at the time going from 112 mcg to 200 mcg in one swoop after a
thyroidectomy
*But it is also apparent

Endo appointment, T3 results at last and hyperparathyroidism possible
I am wondering if anyone who reads this had a parathyroidectomy following a
thyroidectomy
? It would be interesting to do a straw poll (or preferably someone research) to see if
thyroidectomy
and hyperparathyroidism are connected or if hypo or hyper thyroidism and hyperparathyroidism are.

T3 or not T3
Dear all, I've been taking T4 since having a
thyroidectomy
in 2017. A couple of months ago I had a consultation with a private and rather expensive GP, who convinced me to try pharmacy manipulated T3.

Coming off amitryptyline.Any advice please.
I was prescribed amitriptyline 9 years ago to help prevent chronic migraines.Started on 10mg per night.Went up to 20mg per night about 5 years ago.Seemed to be working OK.Less frequent and I could function if I did have one instead of in bed.I have Graves disease and had a
thyroidectomy
last June.

Facing thyroid surgery?
Not knowing what to do and following medical advice I spent a year on anti-thyroid medication, but when they paused the medication to see what happened the thyroid hormone levels went back up again and so the pressure began for me to have 'definitive treatment' - either radiotherapy or a

Thyroidectomy in Buckinghamshire or Oxfordshire?
Is there anyone on here who has had a partial or full
thyroidectomy
in Buckinghamshire or Oxfordshire who would be happy to share their experience, good or bad, and provide any tips/advice? Having had nodules for a number of years, one of mine increased in size in Jan 22.

Jump in Serum TSH
Does anyone have any thoughts as to why my TSH should suddenly jump from an average of 0.2 to 5.34.I had a total
thyroidectomy
flowing cancer discovery 4 years ago. And have been on 150 mg of Levo as a supressing doses to keep any new thyroid cells at bay. Have felt generally ok.

Seeing diabetes specialist (endo) for thyroid medication 🙄
Now I know number 3 probably wouldn't register with the endo😂 who will no doubt try to gaslight me AGAIN by trying me on different thyroid medication (synthetic) , which she as since 2019 with no good results in making me euthyroid (full
thyroidectomy
2019 ).

Why TSH alone should not be used again - another bit of science
Graves and TSH supression after
thyroidectomy
should not be seen as the same thing (we know it but some many doctors seem not to).

How does synthetic t4 convert to the active t3 after a thyroidectomy?
Is it the same place & way if one still has their thyroid? Ie. When you all note that hormones given replace the thyroid, not top it up if the thyroid is still in place, does it then not matter if one has a thyroid for this mechanism? (Not discussing taking anyone's thyroid without obvious dire need

Dodo appointment today 😠
I've tried everything this last 4 years since full
thyroidectomy
, she now wants me to come off T3 and go back on T4, I explained it doesn't matter what you put me on, it will not stop the stomach and bowle issues, it's the medication causing it.

Thyroid blood tests results - Help required
I had a
thyroidectomy
in 2017. I have had an ongoing battle with GP's over treatment. My latest TSH that my GP tested was 0.07. This was the only test he carried out having refused to test F4 & F3. I was on 75mg T4 & 10mg T3. GP lowered T4 to 50mg against my wishes.
