Tetracycline

I had an infection and was only treated with tetracycline for 5 days (many years ago). Then the terrible burning started on the lower right that responded to antibiotics. Sonograms and a laparoscopy saw nothing and grew nothing (but there was some inflammation).

I had GA plus paracetamol, tetracycline (antibiotics), ibuprofen, oral morphine, codeine, pragabalin and clexane at the time of the test. Thank you

I am convinced that at some point I had read/heard that ferrous fumarate was contra-indicated for me and the EMC states "Absorption of both iron and antibiotic may be reduced if Fersamal (Ferrous Fumarate) is given with tetracycline."

It is the rare drug (some types of tetracycline) that become toxic if outdated. Nevertheless, a pharmacy can not dispense, and a physician is not supposed to administer a medicine beyond its expiration date.

Treatment with antibiotics doxycycline, amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, cefotaxime, and meropenem unsuccessful (doxycycline is a tetracycline antibiotic that reduces inflammation.

Also because I felt well while taking systemic antibiotics (penicilline or tetracycline) and became sick again after the courses of antibiotics stopped. For me this is an indication that it is microbiome/bacteria related.

Tetracycline seems to be an option but the GP did not suggest that, I am going to go back to them on Tuesday to chase this. I sent a query to the cardiology team, and they just said both Clarithomycin & Levofloxacin should be safe as I have no pro-arrhythmic conditions.

Maybe if you eat lots of fiber while you take the tetracycline or doxycycline, then you can maximize the benefits...who knows.

Also very curious if symptoms will stay away after the course of antibiotics has ended or if they will gradually return, as has happened in the past when I took tetracycline and augmentin for other medical reasons. Fingers crossed.

I’ve never been a heavy drinker but I have taken a tetracycline antibiotic daily for many years to address a hair follicle infection in my beard area (LFT tests have therefore been quite regular and are why I discovered I have Gilbert’s syndrome).

I saw a procedure where the cyst is drained then injected with either ethanol or tetracycline. This causes the cyst to dissolve on its own after 6-8 weeks with apparently no damage to the ovary. Has anyone had this done?

A lot of (ordinary) things are inhibitors and they are adding to the list all the time: Examples: Aspirin Tetracycline, doxycycline, etc.

I’m allergic to amoxicillin and now find myself in a rather worrying state of health as doxycycline hasn’t cleared up the infection and I now have tetracycline to try. Does anyone else have experience of antibiotic resistance?

I've also got a facial skin condition, Roseacea ( think WC Fields ) but never to that extent as I've been treating it on and off for years with Tetracycline as occasionally needed. Most recently it seems that I can barely touch my nose with a towel after washing without having the pores bleed.
