Oophorectomy (ovary removal surgery)
Today, I was reminded once again by my doctor/oncologist to think seriously about getting my ovaries taken out. I am very strong and I do not want to ever go against what a doctor would recommend, especially when it is in my own interest. I want to live a cancer free life. But what sacrifices a woman

Good news at last, I went into hospital again with gallbladder like pains, which has been happening since my gallbladder removal in Feb
this time they kept me in for a few days and did various test, this time they where able to tell me I have sphincter of oddi dysfunction which is good news for me as I now know what all the pain has been for all theses months but the bad news is I have to have an ERCP, has anyone out there had this done

Calcium, fluoxetine and vit D
Do those of you who had a surgical menopause take 1.5g of calcium on prescription, was your doctor sympathetic, did anyone take fluoxetine for night sweats and vit D supplements? I plan to see doc about this as have to go for my yearly throid test, should I anticipate a lack of understanding or resistance

Great finds!
I am so over the moon about a couple of things I bought /was given I wanted to share them. It struck me as another good theme too as I can't have found them all -- so go on: what were your amazing useful finds for us poor beleaguered ladies of the OC Order? Mine are: M&S dance pants -- like leggings

I have 3 options: Ovaries removed, Mirena coil, or Transcervical Resection of Endometrium. what are anyone elses experiences?
The gynaecologist thinks full hysterectomy perhaps too much. I have to choose by 19th December. I think he thinks that ovary removal is the best option, he said a TCRE still leaves the problem of the ovaries. I believe he means both as producers of hormones and the endometriosis around them. The ovaries

Has anyone had a prophylactic oophorectomy post-menopausally and experienced sexual problems afterwards?
I am sorry to ask such a personal question but am postmenopausal age and considering a prophylactic oophorectomy at the moment. I have searched the web but all the side-effects I can find seem to relate to premenopausal ladies, and I need this information to make a decision. I have a family history of

A big thank you
Hello all, I have to confess to being a long time lurker on this forum but I really wanted to say thank you to all of you who are less shy than I am. I have been reading all the blog posts and questions for 18 months now and sharing people's journeys and advice and I am very grateful to be a member

Ovary removal. Has anyone tried HRT implants ?
Hi, I am scheduled to have surgery on Monday to remove one ovary or possibly both. I had my cervix and uterus removed four years ago aged 36. The consultant suggested estrodiol HRT implants if both ovaries are removed. I am concerned about the side effects and wondered if anyone has any experiences

Is this supplement okay for surgical menopause? Can you take it during chemo? Any experience of these would be good. LA

Preventative Oophrectomy or not??
Hi ... I have had raised levels of CA125 for the past 18 months, up and down between 38 and 77. I also have family history of OC (my mum who died at the age of 59). I've just seen the Gynae Consultant who has offered to take out my ovaries as a preventative measure. US scans haven't shown much, small

Will this be horrible?
Well, I know this is going to be the day for panic, but I have just read on another forum about menopause, and I had forgotten all about that, I shall go straight into surgical menopause after the op? Or will it be a couple of days? What will it be like? Is it horrible? No more periods, how weird, what

The Journey Begins
It's been a very strange few weeks, no a few months actually. In january 2012 I went to my GP rolling in agony with abdominal pain, he told me he couldn't think what could be there to cause a problem, so took bloods and said go home take some pain killers and get over it. When I rang for blood results
