One more question about magnesium

Hi again all,

Sorry for another post on the same topic; I couldn't figure out how to edit my original post.

Even if I can find another magnesium supplement that works better for me (slow release, liquid, different forms, etc.) and start increasing how many magnesium rich foods I eat, won't the tacrolimus that stays in my system ongoing continue to cause the magnesium to waste away?

Meaning, maybe it's possible if I take the magnesium a couple hours before or after I take the tacrolimus it will help a bit; but the tacrolimus stays in our blood so seems like it will still steal the magnesium away?

Thanks again for any thoughts you have about this!

I asked my Mayo transplant nephrologist a similar question. I asked if the tacro blocked the magnesium or depleted it. He said it does not block it but depletes it so you compensate by taking more through food or supplements.

Okay, thanks. That makes me feel more hopeful that I can improve my levels.
