Worried about Dad
My Dad is now 74 and takes
statins
due to a mild heart attack last year and had a stent put in. He asked me was there any vitamins he could take as his memory is starting to fail him. His older brother is also in a care home from last year due to dementia therefore my Dad is worried.

Update on statins for me
She said it’s proved to reduce inflammation so would help with arthritis pain and reduce the need for
statins
. My first day is tomorrow.

Exercise and AF
I also have meds for high blood pressure and
statins
for high cholesterol. Just diagnosed type 2 diabetes and need to lose weight. Am going to the gym and have access to a personal trainer. My problem is that I am now frightened to push myself exercising in case I trigger an AF episode.

Liver Tests
I have Angina and I am on heart medication for high blood pressure and also

New to this statins game
Just returned from GP, after My 3rd successive high cholesterol, it's been decided to start simvastatin. Am not that keen, but given my diet is good, I run half marathon and am 60 years of age, don't know what else I can do, so it's bad genes for me. Any positive tips or encouragement would be good.

PMR, new hip, osteopenia and now statins?
I've looked through the threads on
statins
and still not sure there is a consensus on here.

Looking for research on heart and suppressed TSH
Had a brief disagreement with him about refusing to take
statins
, but wasn't worth wasting time on that red herring. He’s going to contact the private endocrinologist I saw in May (who basically told me to go away), she is also an NHS Consultant at the same hospital.

Cholesterol Lowering Yogurt Triggered Epilepsy?
I don’t have any medications and I don’t really want to take
statins
if I can avoid it. I started having the cholesterol lowering yogurts every morning, as well as having oats every morning.

Statins...Yes or No?
The practice nurse asked if I was on
statins
, I’m not as I’m: a) not entirely convinced on their benefits - I’d rather try to lower cholesterol by changing my diet and b) concerned about side effects.

My statins ipdate
My GP took me off
statins
to find out if they were causing further problems with my health. After only two weeks I can now see in high definition, I can walk without becoming breathless and can swim in water not mud. I thought it was my heart causing my problems but it was the

Stopping Clopidogrel
Anyway, the thing is, I am now a little unsettled, I guess as I have been doing very well since the stents, reducing my meds to just the anti platelets and

CoQ10 and Blood Thinning Drugs.
That is interesting, just had a little search and found this from The Mayo Clinic ( if the link fails) Whilst it may be good for some heart conditions, other illnesses, and possible issues with
statins
, there is a note of caution: “Interactions Possible interactions include: Anticoagulants.
