Well I’ve tried yet another statin and still have bad side effects. Saw GP today who has referred me to a Lipid Group for advice on other statins and other ways to prevent another heart attack. I’ve been referred to an endocrinologist because of my high parathyroid hormone levels and my GP has asked me to try intermittent fasting. She said that as I had a good diet and a low cholesterol reading it may be more beneficial to try a more natural approach. She said it’s proved to reduce inflammation so would help with arthritis pain and reduce the need for statins. My first day is tomorrow.

Update on statins for me
Good luck. Most weekdays I find doing an IF by accident for about 14 hours. 10pm-2pm. It’s ok and I do feel surprisingly perky on it. I think there is an IF community somewhere who might be able to support you.
Take care
Hi
For how long have you had high PTH? Is your calcium levels high also?
It sounds as though you need to see the endocrinologist ASAP.
Why is your GP prescribing statins when your cholesterol is low - as statins are to aid the reduction of Cholesterol. Do you know what the doctor is trying to achieve by fasting?
If you also have high calcium as well as high PTH there is a high probability that your heart attack is due to high calcium in your blood. Also the joint pain can be caused by high calcium.
I hope you can see the endocrinologist soon.
Hi Engo. I don’t know how long the PTH has been high. The heart attack was expected because of family history. I have a healthy diet. I’m feeling much better without statins and after day 11 of IF. The appointment with the endocrinologist is not for 14 weeks none urgent. GP says she’s not worried about the readings. She says that wasn’t the cause of my HA.
