he replied you’re Up there with them he told me that The test has shown although heavily calcified surprisingly I had good blood flow through all the important arteries and there was no need for stents or a bypass he told me he could do nothing about the heavy calcification just that I should take

What has just happened?
I'm still trying to work out why...... no warning, never smoked, BMI of 23, fit, regularly walk over a marathon over the week, on
statins
for nearly 2 decades, good diet, just bad genes handed down I guess. Before they let me go they fitted another 5 stents (7 overall).

Thoughts on Statins
Hi, I've recently had a blood test which showed I have a high cholesterol level and I have AF; my GP wants me to take
Statins
, he's prescribed Lipitor. Reading the leaflet has me a bit worried about the side effects and wondered if anyone can share their experience with me.

Fibromyalgia.
Currently working with my GP to see if my
statins
are affecting me adversely. Looked up possible symptoms for FM and I seem to tick every box, although the medical profession don’t seem to know what it is or if it even exists.

New Data: Finasteride Safely Prevents Prostate Cancer'These Results Are Transformational,' Says Researcher May 20, 2018
Clinicaltrials.gov has a long list of agents under investigation, such as metformin,
statins
, aspirin, and green tea. But none of the studies, which are all relatively small, will ever be as authoritative as the PCPT.

Statins: new study regarding time to CRPC
Quite a few statin posts in the past few months... not sure if this was among them, but is very recent. Not All Statins Are Equal
The table shows the reduction in LDL (bad cholesterol) for different
statins
and doses. Before you ask I am on 40mg Atorvastatin as my student liver (🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺) couldn't cope with 80mg!

Statins and ADT?
Our in vitro finding that
statins
competitively reduce DHEAS uptake, thus effectively decreasing the available intratumoral androgen pool, affords a plausible mechanism to support the clinical observation of prolonged TTP in statin users."

Help with test results anyone?
As they are pushing me to go on
Statins
I really need to understand what they mean. This is what’s on the results.

Side effects of statins
My mum started
statins
before Christmas, she has stopped taking them today as she feels her hair is really thinning. Has anyone else experienced this?

Diet control cholesterol
I had a really hard time on
statins
so we are now trying to manage with diet. I’m finding labels really difficult to calculate. I have recently returned from America and cholesterol levels were clearly marked on labels there. Thanks for any suggestions 😊

Statins and low LDL
I'm wondering if LDL can be too low and have a negative impact on heart health. My statin is only 20mg. After a major lifestyle change a couple of years ago my cholesterol is 2.3 total, HDL 1.4, LDL 0.9. Any thoughts?

Diet and heart health
Been doing some reading on diet and heart health and came across a study regarding niacin use alongside
statins
. Was wondering if anyone has any input on diet to help with narrowing of the arteries, lowering bp and cholesterol ratios. I am vegan just to let you know.
