Hi - those of use lucky enough to be prescribed T3 on the NHS: Does your endocrinologist test T3 and T4 or just TSH? I know too many just rely on TSH but to the extent that they don’t even test T3 or T4 when you’re on Liothyronine? I had a monitoring test that seems to only have been TSH. I will

advice please
Hi I have graves disease and been treated since I was diagnosed in 2014. I take low dose of carbimazole alternate days and had a blood test at 9am a couple of days ago. Normally the GP will only ask the lab for TSH, but this was a 'well woman' check up so the lab also did T4 and T3. I ws a bit concerned

Struggling
My understanding GP left our practice a few months ago. I was asked to have a blood test as an annual medication review. My TSH had climbed from 0.46 to 1.24 (0.4-4.5). I was taking 50mg Levo but was tired, my hair was falling out, I felt cold and my weight had climbed by 5kg. The GP rang to ask me to

Leading endos' replies to my question: "Can problems be caused by a suppressed TSH or high/over range T4/T3?"
So many of us are told by doctors that a very low/suppressed TSH will probably cause AFib or osteoporosis, and we have our dose reduced. We maintain that it's a high/over range T4 and T3 that may do that, not the TSH level. We say that as long as T4 and T3 are well within their reference ranges, we

Hi I am 61 years old female and definitely post menopausal. I have just received a letter following my recent endo appointment and it states that oestrogen levels were negligible and fsh was 19. I just want to check if this is normal. I thought the fsh should have been much higher. My tsh has never

Feeling worse with raised T4/T3 levels
Hello, I have an appointment with my thyroid specialist in a couple of weeks. I've just had my latest blood test results back and I am feeling very confused and hoping for some help ahead of the appointment so that I am better informed. It will only be a 15 minute appointment so not much time to ask

Why would you want to read this? Well, it suggests a way of treating some hypothyroid issues without affecting the thyroid itself. Very much related to the issues discussed in this very recent post: [i]
