It never rains!
Hi all, just when I thought I was getting well enough to not need this site so much! ha! Blue lighted to hospital on Friday evening with suspected heart attack, turns out it is more likely either angina or oesophageal spasm caused by cryo-ablation 4 weeks ago. They have changed my medication from Sotalol

Further to NICE no longer recommending Sotalol for rate control does anyone know what will happen for patients already taking Sotalol?

Anyone had experience good or bad with dronedarone?
I have just been changed to dronedarone from flecanide which had no effect on my AF. Previously I was on sotalol again with limited results. Interested in people's experience. I accept that everyone is different. My cardiologists view was that the next option was ablation rather than further drug based

I'm on Sotalol 80mg twice a day for PAF. I have tried to read the updated guidelines from NICE but unsure if they are now saying this drug
Is not recommended for the treatment of PAF. Should I be asking my doctor or cardiologist for a review?

'Sotalol is another beta blocker but it is no longer recommended for heart rate control'
Just found above in the CareAF notes. Visiting my GP soon as I have not had a good relationship with Sotalol over the past 9 yrs. I will see what is offered instead

Morning after the night before.......
I have PAF and take Prodaxa And Sotalol. When I go out in the evening pub or party I feel incredibly hung over in the morning and shattered. I don't drink alcohol and I was the same when taking Warfarin. This happens every time, if I stay in and watch telly I am fine next day. Does this happen to you

All that is fast with the heart in not necessarily afib
A few weeks ago I woke up to find my heart racing at 150 beats per minute. I recorded my heart rate on my blood pressure monitor ,My thoughts were very down beat at the time, I just kept on thinking about would I ever be free from afib and how long would it be before I was put back onto sotalol, and

Newly diagnosed with PAF. very frightened. Doctor changing med from Bisoprolol to Sotalol. Advice please!
I have episodes of PAF for a couple of years but didn't know what it was and as was so seldom I never went to the doctor. However in the last few months it got much more frequent and in the last few weeks since diagnosis it's happening every couple of days. I have an appt. with cardiologist on 17th June

Ongoing AF?
Hi. I've just been diagnosed with AF and I've started taking sotalol 80mg twice daily with no ill effects thankfully! I don't have any risk factors for anti coagulation so wasn't given anything but I'm ok with that ( I think!) I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't see where. - do people still

Third ablation scheduled soon
I'm going to have my third ablation next Monday for the extra beats coming from the bottom of the vintrecular part as shown during the EP study earlier this month. As most of you aware first ablation stopped the flutter from last Aug. , second ablation stopped the frequent SVTs for four weeks now My

Relieving symptoms when in AF?
I had a really bad time yesterday, BP 100/50, pulse 180, felt really lousy, all I could feel was my heart trying to escape from my body. Lasted about 2-3 hours. Is there anything you can do to relieve the symptoms while they happen. I am on Sotalol 80mg x 2, plus warfarin 5mg plus statins, on waiting

Third ablation recommended
My case is little bit complex , I had few types of irrethemia along with artificial valve after two open heart surgeries and a scar in the heart . As most of you aware I just had my second ablation two weeks ago , and I can say both of my previous ablations were successful thank god . First one stopped

Hi Diagnosed with PAF a while ago and put on Sotalol 80mg twice a day. Doesn't seem to have done anything to stop the episodes.
If anything they are more severe and more frequent, especially at night time. Have a follow up with the cardiologist in 10 days so the doctor is reluctant to change the meds. Has anyone else been prescribed Sotalol for PAF, and what experiences did they have?

When to take Warfarin?
My nurse was adamant it had to be at 6pm every day which totally did not fit in with work/meetings/commuting etc, and i kept forgetting it completely. I now take it at bed time along with my Sotalol and Statins and it doesn't seem to be causing a problem with my INR. What do others do?

Five days post second ablation
I'm doing fine thanks god , just annoyed from my pulse it is between 80-100 even at rest where my normal pulse usually 50-60 at rest , based on EKG nothing showed wrong they told me it is fast normal heart beats , but I'm still not comfortable and didn't sleep well for two nights now , and can't control
