mTOR
Gecrellin mentioned
Sirolimus
[Rapamune, aka Rapamycin] in his recent post; it is an mTOR inhibitor. Rapamycin was in the news today, because of a dog study [1]. Just why this anti-aging study made the front page of the NY Times is a mystery, since there is coverage elsewhere going back to 2014.

Targeting mTOR
Rapamycin (aka
Sirolimus
) is a bacteria discovered on Rapa Nui [Easter Island]. It inhibits mTOR. So the protein is named after the drug that inhibits it! mTOR is involved with cancer cell survival, proliferation & metastasis. It's an excellent target. Everolimus is a derivative of
Sirolimus

High Blood Pressure, weight and GGT
I understand this can be a side effect of the tacrolimus immunosuppressents, however I'm on minimal amounts anyway and yesterday was reduced even more to just 0.5mg a day (I'm also on 2mg
sirolimus
). Also since transplant I've put on about 2.5 stone, I'm over weight at about 16 stone.

a-Syn misfolding blockers/repairers (updated)
This is an update of a previous post. The number of compounds that help in the test tube or mice is overwhelming. Unfortunately, there is not a standard test to determine which ones reach the human brain and work the best. It's not possible to take all of them. But the long list gives hope: there

Compounds that prevent a-syn misfolding
This is a list of the best compounds with the ability to reach the human brain and have been shown in test tube or animal research to slow or stop the accumulation of misfolding a-Syn. The first 4 have the added evidence that they work in humans by epidemiological studies. Most of the other compounds

BWS & HI
She had her first tongue reduction 6months ago undertaken at GOSH which need x3 attempts as the stitches would hold in and her tounge would'nt heal due to her Octreotide and
Sirolimus
(HI) medication which makes her immune system very weak like chemotheraphy for cancer patients.

Post transplant, drug withdrawal symptoms?
I was having kidney problems so reducing tacrolimus, ( since Tuesday on 0.5 mg twice a day ) , whilst moving to
sirolimus
. Also on Tuesday the prednisoline, which has been gradually reduced to 5 mg was withdrawn.

Anyone here familar with rapamycin
My doctors are planning to subscribe rapamycin also known as
Sirolimus
. Mainly because it seems to give good results with aPL antibodies. Is the use of this medication familar to anyone? It is sometimes used, or more often? And are there any knownresults?
