Gabapentin
I've been taking Gabapentin and Sinemet for a months. I've had double vision for about that long as well. I was sure it was from MS but the eye doctor said it wasn't. And it's been getting worse. Well, someone posted that she had double vision from the gaba so I looked up the side effects and sure

Should I start sinemet?
My neuro suggests that I should be on sinemet. A little background. I'm 82. Was diagnosed with PD at age 75. Have taken no PD meds to date. Symptoms include: loss of smell; tremor right arm and sometimes on left side; facial tremor; problem with swallowing at times. These symptoms don't bother me

Sinemet and PSP
My husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2016 at age 68. Subsequently, he was started on therapy with Sinemet and developed episodic periods of shortness of breath that were distressing to both him and me. Cardiac and pulmonary workups did not reveal an etiology for the shortness of breath

Levodopa Medications and Vitamin B6
Introduction
Vitamin B6 is a cofactor in over 100 enzymatic reactions. In the process it is converted from the active form, principally P5P (pyridoxal-5-phosphate), to the inactive form, pyridoxine. An excess of pyridoxine is toxic because it occupies sites that require the active form. For this

DBS SURGERY

Are there good days and bad?
The first day after receiving Sinemet (not sure how to spell that), Dad seemed to perk up a little and come out of the "death stare." It was short lived though. The next day his interaction decreased and his words became mumbly again. Again the day after he seemed a little better again. The last two

Mucuna pruriens
I started to use Mucuna pruriens (MP) from Zandopa. So far I am taking 4.5g that corresponds to 1.5 100/25 sinemet pills. This will last me 2h15min, sinemet or MP. I tried to increase the MP dose up to 7.5g hoping to obtain the same on-time duration as the one provided by the equivalent sinemet pills

24 hour sinemet. Why not?
Why can't they make a sinemet formulation that slowly breaks down over a 24 hour period so we can have constant benefit even at night? They already have sinement CR which works over a 4 hour period. It should be easy to make. Just have a pill for example that releases 100 mg of levodopa and 50 mg

Two important studies Re: Sinemet
parkie13 and park_bear posted two important studies yesterday and the day before. Because none of us read every comment in every thread, I feel these are important enough to make them a new subject. They may impact your decision(s) regarding Sinemet. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4211847

Memory and starting Levodopa
Hi, can anyone tell me if they had a harder time remembering things or were a little foggier when starting Levodopa, whether through Sinemet or Mucuna Pruriens? Thanks, Sarah

Changing meds
I have had rls for over 20 years. As I am aging it has gotten worse. Way back on was on darvon, then sinemet, then miraplex, then requip, now gabapentin and tramadol. I had hallucinations with miraplex and requip. It does seem like trial and error.
